    weekend babe !!

Swim in Volcanoes, Run Through Black Holes.

Teide National Park has a unique and quite an astonishing landscape. Revered by astronomers as one of the best places in the world to observe the center of our galaxy all year round, it was on my 'must visit' list of places to experience.
The climate in Tenerife lends itself perfectly to astronomy. It has some of the most clement and predictable weather cycles of anywhere in the world, with something in the region of 350 days a year of clear skies, you can see why this is the perfect home for one of the worlds most renowned observatories, the Teide observatory, and at over 3000 metres above sea level it has the perfect vantage point for observing the skies above us.
I visited in a time when there was a serious forest fire on the island. This presented me with some unique opportunities to capture the smoke from the fires from various landmarks. A tragedy as it affected 2000 hectares (5000 acres) of land. Just another moment when mother nature reminds you that she is in charge.

Michael Laverty to PBM MotoGP team?

With James Ellison out of the picture andShane Byrne set to stay in British Superbikes next season, Paul Bird is searching for another rider to front his MotoGP effort and he choice could fall onMichael Laverty.
Laverty has two offers to stay in BSB - fron Yamaha and Honda - but he could be tempted to join PBM’s team and ride the ART.
“I’ve got on really well with both Honda and Yamaha teams these past two season, but the lure of World championship and racing against Edwards and De Puniet in CRT is appealing,”said Laverty. “I know it’s the second tier championship in MotoGP, and it’s even harder to know what is the best decision to make, as the Yamaha deal with Shaun is right on the wire and he can’t hold on much longer.”
Yonny Hernandez is still tipped to be Paul Bird’s second rider.

300SL Roadster Tops the Catalogue at Bonhams' 3 Dec 2012 Brooklands Sale

INCLUDES FULL LOTLIST. Well, would you expect anything else to headline a sale at Mercedes-Benz World? This early (1957) LHD 300SL Roadster has completed just 37,000 miles from new and is estimated at GBP 380,000 - 450,000.

    Other cars bearing the Stuttgart manufacturer’s three-pointed star include the 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300b Cabriolet D (GBP 90,000 - 120,000, renovated by M-B Stuttgart) and a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL Armoured Saloon for GBP 20,000 - 25,000.
Two collections form a significant part of the 72-car (plus one aeroplane, the 1942 Hawker Hurricane) catalogue. The third part of the sell-off of The Patrick Collection includes such gems as the Rolls-Royce-engined, 1950 Land Rover 81" Prototype (GBP 8,000 - 10,000, below) and two similarly styled cars from the 1930s: the 1931 Invicta 4½-Litre S-Type Low-chassis Tourer (GBP 450,000 - 550,000) and the GBP 200,000 - 250,000, 1938 Jaguar SS100 3½-Litre Roadster.

    There’s also a 1980 Rover 3500 (SD1) Group 1 Racing Saloon at a very tempting ‘No Reserve’ GBP 3,000 - 5,000.
The other collection numbers 14 mostly pre-War cars, but we do like the 1947 Bentley Mk VI Countryman Shooting Brake by Harold Radford. A lot of fun (and wood to polish) for GBP 40,000 - 60,000.
Other cars that catch the ever-beady Classic Driver eye include the 1970 Lotus Elan Sprint Drophead Coupé (GBP 16,000 - 20,000, modified for racing but formerly the property of Ron Hickman, Design Director at Lotus Cars), and a 1974 Rolls-Royce Corniche Coupé in black for an oh-so-reasonable GBP 18,000 - 22,000.
Finally, do have another look at our video on the fully airworthy Hawker Hurricane. It’s the last lot in the catalogue and estimated at GBP 1.4 - 1.7 million.
The sale commences at 14:00 on Monday, 3 December, and will be held at Mercedes-Benz World, Brooklands, Surrey KT13 0SL.

Christmas shopping; For the Urban Explorer: Vintage Rolex

Buying a watch as a present does not always show too much creativity, but this Rolex Explorer is something different. As an example from the late 1960s, the classic ‘action watch’ is for the man or woman who appreciates both the model’s understated styling and its performance in extreme conditions.

Justin Jay of the Watch Club in The Royal Arcade, Old Bond Street enthuses about the watch: “What really makes this vintage Explorer is its perfectly aged dial with the famous ‘exclamation mark’ running from 12 to six o’clock.”

The Isle of Man TT: A Dangerous Addiction

    Filmmaker: David Niblock
The Isle of Man TT is described as the world's most dangerous race. Yet every year more and more motorcycle enthusiasts come to this tiny British island to race in the event.
It is a three-hour ferry ride from Liverpool to Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man, which is a self-governing British Crown Dependency.
Year after year in late May more than 25,000 people make this journey to the small island about 70 kilometres off the English coast in the middle of the Irish Sea.
The TT race has claimed almost 150 lives in its 105-year history and the course itself has claimed more than 250 lives.
Most of the riders are amateurs with full-time jobs a world away from the megabucks of Grand Prix racing, and for them this is a very expensive business.
The course is more than 60 kilometres long and lined with kerbs, lamp posts, houses, trees and granite walls. The race is run over a distance of 364 kilometres, or six laps of the course, and takes about two hours to complete.
And, it is not a death wish. It is about living.
This film was shot during the 2012 Isle of Man TT, and it was only the third time in 20 years that the event passed by without a fatality.
Al Jazeera's Simon McGregor-Wood, a self-professed 'petrol head', took part in this year's events, though he did not actually race. Through him, we take a close look at the passion and dedication that drives people to risk their lives to ride in this race. We will also look at what makes this race so exceptional and what makes the Isle of Man so unique
