    Audi R8 V10 and Ducati Diavel featured in new Wolverine promo



    Audi has released three official videos made ​​for the launch of the new Wolverine movie, starring Hugh Jackman: the first one (above) is the actual trailer for the film, and features the awesome Audi R8 V10 as well as the athletic Ducati Diavel, the second one is the predictable behind-the-scenes of the trailer, and the third is about the premiere in London’s West End, where Hugh Jackman arrives on the red carpet in Leicester Square at the wheel of the R8 V10.     The 2013 Audi R8 V10 measures 4.44 meters in length, 1.90 meters in width and only 1.25 meters in height and is powered by a 5.2-liter FSI V10 unit in a choice of two outputs: the base level model produces 518 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque while the new range topping “Plus” model comes with 542 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. The top model can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 317 km/h (197 mph) while the ‘regular’ V10 is just 0.1 seconds and 4 km/h (3 mph) shy of these figures.
    The Ducati Diavel is currently available in five variants: standard, ‘Dark’, ‘Carbon’, ‘Cromo’ and ‘Strada’, all of which equipped with the outstanding Ducati’s Testastretta 11° L-twin engine (4 valve per cylinder, Desmodromic, liquid cooled) credited with an output of 162 horsepower at 9,500 rpm end a maximum torque of 127.5 Nm at 8,000 rpm. As everybody should know by now, the German carmaker bought Ducati about a year ago, in spring 2012.

    We see a lot of Harley cafe customs, but to be honest most of them aren’t quite our cup of tea. It can take a lot of work to de-bling all but the most recent HD offerings, like the 48, etc. The tank shape doesn’t naturally make for a good cafe racer either, and while there  have been a few interesting HD scramblers recently the weight of the engine alone raises more than a few eyebrows when people see a hog wearing knobblies.

    This bike is very different. Inspired by the likes of Deus Ex Machina & the Wrenchmonkees, this build by Sylvain is spot on, and I’d love to have a bike like this parked in my metaphorical driveway.

    Sylvain Barel is 40 years old and has been living in Reunion Island for the last ten years. It’s a small island around 120 miles south of Mauritius in the lower part of the Indian Ocean. This is only Sylvain’s third motorcycle after a Yamaha TDM and an 883R Sportster, which he loved.

    Sylvain’s custom cafe racer is another HD Sportster from 1990 and was put together with help from Pascal Tourini from a workshop called Mobile. Pascal was one of the first people Sylvain met on the Island and he looked after his previous Harley.

    Sylvain’s inspiration for the build was the simplicity and rawness of the WM and Deus builds, which he wanted to combine with what Harleys can offer; lots of bare metal and simple mechanics, …and I think he’s the nail on the head.

    There’s nothing extraneous on the bike, with shortie fender, tucked-in lamps and instruments, and wherever possible raw metal finish is the order of the day.

    Firestone tyres on wire spoked wheels work perfectly on a machine like this, where it’s not all about how fast you get there – especially on a tropical island. The drop clip-on bars with brown gummy bear style grips sit at a perfect angle beside the headlight and cowl with lines that could have been drawn up by Ogri Cartoonist, Paul Sample.

    Mini indies preserve the ethos of subtle simplicity, and a side mounted rear plate and lights keep the rear Deus style seat clear of ugly extrusions and provides a good view of the fat rear Firestone.

    The raw metal tank is also the perfect size, shape and position on this build, with subtle painted shading on the knee indents that add a touch of subtle class and giveaway Sylvain’s superb attention to detail.

    Triple discs suggest decent stopping power, and the high level, straight-thru, reverse cone exhaust is bang-on trend for the latest crop of modern retro cafe racers being built in Europe at the moment, plus it gives the bike some much need ground clearance.

    Vintage Addiction Moped Madness

    You may have noticed we don’t often do scooters, but when we do it’s because they are properly special, and this wee beastie is one such suped-up scoot, made from so many donor parts we’re not quite sure what to call it.

    The owner and builder is Calalunian, Carlos, AKA Xarlie, from Barcelona. He works full time as a garage mechanic but built this bike in his spare time at evenings and weekends, under the Vintage Addiction Crew name.

    Xarlie is a petrol head with good taste, with a liking for Aircooled VWs, old Porsches and vintage Scooters as well as custom hot rods, so the styling of this bike has some obvious roots.

    This is VA’s second bike and was built as part of the Massive Metamorphosis moped contest – and battle between friends and a place where Xarlie met many other good people on the scene. Lot’s of Xarlie’s friends contributed to the project, donating bikes and parts, including a 49cc Derby and Beta Trueba and an 80cc KTM. The inspiration came from the Bonneville Salt Flats.

    The parts list includes; a Beta Trueba front wheel, swingarm and rear suspension. Front forks and suspension are from the KTM 80, there are Yamaha TZR bars, a custom chassis and seat, Rieju Supermotard rear wheel and the exhaust is from a Derby. The bike is all finished off in matt great and blue metal flake with tasteful VA decals.

    But it’s not all about scoots. In the workshop Xarlie also has a Mk1 Golf Diesel turbo and VW 1200 Beetle, as well as a a Ducati Desmo 500 cafer racer (we look forward to seeing that on The Bike Shed) a Honda Dominator (another Shed favourite) and a Lambretta scrambler with sir suspension. Blimey.

    THE DECOSON BY RANDY GRUBB

    Randy Grubb is almost certainly the best aluminium fabricator you’ll find anywhere in the Western Hemisphere, his work with 4, 3 and 2 wheeled vehicles using the bauxite based metal is legendary and after taking a look at his newest creation, I can’t help but think of him as a bit of an artist.
    The Decoson is so called because it’s the “son” of the now-famous Decoliner (another of Randy’s creations), it’s based on a 1984 Harley-Davidson Sportster though much of the original bike had to be either modified or removed to allow for the new and remarkably beautiful body of the Decoson to take shape.
    The rear suspension had to go in favour of a rigid-tail, the handle bars were removed and new, much lower drag bars were added. All the gauges, switches and electronics were lowered down, the original seat was discarded and the fuel tank had its top half cut off – to make way for the new body shell. Interestingly, the handlebars are mounted inside the new body, so you actually reach into the bike to steer it.

    The opening for the front wheel is also designed to allow air flow in over the air-cooled Harley v-twin, Randy added a series of louvres on both side to allow the hot air to escape and a small windshield to push a curtain of air up over the rider’s head at higher speeds.
    Officially, Randy says that this bike is a work of art and isn’t really meant to be a daily rider, but unofficially it looks like he has an extraordinary amount of fun riding it, and I want to have a go.

    Cars and Films: The car's the poster star


    What would James Bond have been without his Aston Martin DB5? Or Mr Bean without his Mini? Now, Spanish graphic designer Jesús Prudencio has reinterpreted classic movie posters with the cars as the real stars…
    Actors are overrated, right? Jesús Prudencio, a graphic designer and illustrator from Seville, certainly thinks so. ‘Back to the Future’ would have been nothing if it weren’t for the DeLorean and its flux capacitor. The best moment of ‘Ghostbusters’ was, surely, when ‘Ecto–1’, the converted Cadillac ambulance, was finally scrambled against the ghoulish monsters.
    Señor Prudencio simply loves films and cars. Abiding by the motto ‘reduce to the max’, he has designed new posters for several hit movies, which portray the cars as the films' real heroes. Critics might be shocked by his ‘Pulp Fiction’ poster, which presents not John Travolta, but his character Vincent Vega's cherry red Chevrolet Malibu Convertible. Jack Nicholson’s iconic wicked grin for ‘The Shining’ has been replaced by a solitary and quite eerie alpine truck on caterpillar tracks. A classic Vespa adorns the ‘Roman Holiday’ poster, but without Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck astride it: the couple who so famously rode it through Rome in the film.
    007 fans can’t protest at Prudencio’s ‘Goldfinger’ interpretation, though. No beautiful gilded Bond girls, but the sleek, sinewy form of the legendary DB5. It’s great to see the cars and other forms of mobility being recognised as actors in their own right. Perhaps, one day, we might see an Oscar category for best vehicle.

    It’s safe to say that the motorcycle Yamaha XS650 will go down in history as a legendary motostrano donor. For several decades, customizers around the world use this model to build cafe racers, street trackers, Bobber, and many other kinds of custom-bikes. The only problem some custom bikes Yamaha XS650 is that sometimes begin to master repeated, without causing any interest. However, in this case, propose to consider the unique bright green cafe racer Yamaha XS650, who built by Steve Baugrud.
    It is important to note that this bike is the first creation of Stephen, who is not professionally engaged in customizing and mechanics. In fact, he had to learn on the go rework motorcycle, reading forums and specialist literature.
