MOTO GP : Márquez sera de nouveau en pole position à Jerez / Marquez grabs pole in sunny Jerez

Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP, Repsol Honda Team, SPA Q2

Marc Marquez, Repsol Honda Team, SPA Q2
Marc Marquez will be on pole for Sunday’s MotoGP™ race at the Gran Premio bwin de España, with Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa joining him on the front row.
On his 100th Grand Prix weekend Marquez produced a superb late 1’38.120 lap to smash the pole record at Jerez, qualifying 0.421s ahead of Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Lorenzo and 0.510s in front of his Repsol Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa. For full Jerez MotoGP Q2 results click here.
Heading the second row after an intriguing Q2 run in the southern Spanish heat is the most successful rider on the grid at Jerez, with Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi (+0.737) qualifying fourth at the track where he boasts six premier class victories.
Joining him on row two are Aleix Espargaro (NGM Forward Racing) and Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team). A late crash for Espargaro hindered his Q2 efforts in the final minutes and he missed out on a potential front row.
The third row will host young trio Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP), Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech3) and Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech3), with Smith recovering well from a big crash on Friday.
Alvaro Bautista (GO&FUN Honda Gresini) is accompanied by American pair Colin Edwards (NGM Forward Racing) and Nicky Hayden (Drive M7 Aspar) on the fourth row, whilst the likes of Andrea Iannone (Pramac Racing) and Cal Crutchlow (Ducati Team) will start from further back having failed to make Q2.
Dani Pedrosa, Repsol Honda Team, SPA Q2

    BSMC GEAR GUIDE #8

    ELMC_Roadstar_Jacket_1
    ELMC – ROADSTAR JACKET
Gary at Eastman Leathers has been making specialist vintage style flying jackets since 1984. His jackets are authentic to the original garments, matching every detail as closely as possible. The materials and method of manufacture are of the highest quality, with all their jackets made in the UK. Gary started the business from a passion to produce an authentic garment as good as it could be, and “…being proud of the end product”.
    ELMC_Roadstar_Jacket_4
Gary, a life long biker, has taken this pride and uncompromising commitment to quality to his motorcycle clothing range, ELMC. The collection takes inspiration from West Coast motorcycle culture of the mid 20th century.
The Roadstar jacket in American Walnut literally had me salivating. It is simply a beautiful jacket. It’s early 50s styling hark back to the days of Brando and Dean. Inspired by the early Buco models J-21 and J-24, this was the catalyst for the ELMC brand.
    ELMC_Roadstar_Jacket_2
It’s construction is near to perfection in every way, from the choice of leather, to the cut thorough to the stitching. The colour is stunning.
The Roadstar is made from 2.5oz Italian premium grade veg tanned horsehide, which is tough yet supple, and means the jacket will last decades if not a lifetime, and will stay intact in the unfortunate mishap of a slide up the road.
    ELMC_Roadstar_Jacket_3
It’s lined in 100% wool plaid that will keep you warm on colder days. It has cotton silesia sleeve linings, and unbleached cotton drill pocket linings. The labels are (for you denim geeks) shuttle-loom woven, and the hardware is vintage dull nickel.

    Il y a 30 ans en Corse…/ Thirty years ago in Corsica…

THE HUSKY BY DEUS EX MACHINA

    Husqvarna
Husqvarna is a motorcycle marque that’s always been a little unusual, the company start life all the way back in 1689 as a firearms manufacturer before moving to the Swedish town of Huskvarna in 1757 and taking the same name.
By the late 1800s the company was also producing bicycles and then in 1903 they began buying third-party engines and creating motorcycles – making them one of the oldest motorcycle companies still in operation.
By the time the 1960s rolled around, Husqvarna had largely perfected the art of 2-stroke engineering, this allowed them to dominate the enduro and off-road motorcycle racing right through into the ’70s. Steve McQueen famously loved his Husky as did many other Americans, leading to the company enjoying massive sales successes only rivalled by the larger Japanese motorcycle manufacturers.
Husqvarna still enjoys significant successes on the dirt tracks of Europe and the USA, the company recently began a push into East Asia which resulted in them setting up shop in Bali, just down the road from Deus. This twist of provenance led to the bike you see here – a Husqvarna built for the road rather than the trail.

    Première journée : 1.Raga (ESP, Gas Gas) ; 2.Bou (ESP, Montesa Michelin) ; 3.Fujinami (JAP, Montesa Michelin) ; 4.Cabestany (ESP, Sherco Michelin) ; 5.Fajardo (ESP, Beta Michelin) ; etc…
    Seconde journée : 1.Raga ; 2.Bou ; 3.Cabestany; 4.Fujinami ; 5.Fajardo ; etc…
    Positions au championnat : 1.Bou, 71 ; 2.Raga, 70 ; 3.Fujinami, 58 ; 4.Fajardo, 52 ; 5.Cabestany, 51 ; etc…

2014 BITD Parker 425: Race Day Highlights

It was an exciting and grueling race at the Best In The Desert Parker 425; vehicles getting stuck, breaking, or even just running out of fuel. However, we do have winners and here is a quick rundown of the Top 3 in Trophy Truck and Class 1.

BITD Trophy Truck Champion, Jason Voss in the #1 Voss Motorsports Ford Raptor took the win overall in Trick Truck for the second consecutive year. He was able to overcome a severely deteriorated course, including a bad wash at race mile 170 that got Robby Gordon and several smaller trucks stuck. Tavo Vildosola took second place in the #21 BraNix Ford Raptor and Mark Wehyrich in the #9 TSCO Raptor took the final podium. Corey Keysar took the win in Class 1500.

The real story of the day was in Class 1800 Sportsman. Lee and Tyler Patten took the historic win in the #1814 buggy. Ty was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 21. His dad Lee Patten had us build a Class 1 race car for him a few years back. Ty spent the majority of his 21st year in and out of the hospital. At age 22, he decided he wanted to go racing. Lee called Jerry Penhall and asked for help to make it happen.
Not only did Lee and Tyler compete in one of the largest off-road races in America but they won their Class 1800 Sportsman Class after starting dead last. A special congratulation goes out to the Patten's for taking a class win, Jerry Penhall for allowing Ty to race, and team Herzog for chasing this amazing Father and Son effort.
A full race recap will be posted promptly tomorrow morning. Thanks for following the race with Race-Dezert.com.
