    The Legends of Belstaff

The Ferrari 250 GTO Speaks for Itself

Using hyperbole to describe the 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO is unnecessary. The car speaks for itself. It is one of the last (of thirty-six) Ferrari GTOs ever built. This particular one, chassis #5571, was the first of the Series II bodies. The 3.0L V-12 produces about 300 horsepower and it completed multiple endurance races, winning its class in the Daytona Continental 2000km (this car's first race), Sebring 12 hour, and Nassau TT.

The driver is Mr. Derek Hill, who won the Ferrari Challenge International Championship in 1995 and the Formula Dodge West Coast in 1996, and raced a Bugatti EB110 at Le Mans. Additionally, he has a special attachment to this car as it was his dad, Fomula One Champ Phil Hill, that raced it in Daytona and Nassau. But what is the car really like? Well, "It's so hard to describe just how incredible it is to drive this car at speed. I mean, it's really a certain kind of ecstasy." We wish we could give you a first-hand account but, just like you, we're relegated to dreaming. If you're still reading, thank you. But we know why you're here, go on now, watch the video.

Schaaf Custom 82: A club yacht with (Gull)wings

    Schaaf Boats Custom 82
This 25m-long, 6.5m-wide floating glass pavilion is not the latest addition to the ever-expanding market of urban houseboats. Instead, it’s the vision of a yacht built to host events for up to 250 people – plus a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG…
Of course, the classically proportioned supercar serves only as a pretty form of inspiration – the rear platform could accommodate any car that the organisers chose to bestow it with. Schaaf envisions it as (literally) the perfect platform from which to launch a new vehicle.

    Four parties at a time

The yacht has been designed to host up to four parties independently of each other – there’s an open upper deck, a lower lounge/presentation room, and another deck from which to absorb the chosen car’s details close-up. But perhaps most impressive is the glass viewing platform, which can be lowered or raised hydraulically. Further details can be found at www.schaaf-boats.com.

You can find many beautiful yachts and boats for sale in the Classic Driver Market – as you can with the matching Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

Leica T: Small revolution in aluminium

It was 100 years ago that Leica changed photography forever, with its revolutionary compact cameras. Now, Leica has come up with an entirely new camera system, a camera crafted from a solid block of aluminium and designed in conjunction with Audi...
For some, this could be the most boring advert in the world – for others, it’s a visual delight: for a full 45 minutes, the camera captures a man in the Leica factory polishing (by hand) the aluminium housing of a new Leica T camera, milled from a single block of aluminium. The design is as minimalist as it is high-quality, while the aluminium lends tactile qualities you simply don’t get from other manufacturers. Even the operating system of the digital display on the back of the camera is reduced, simplificed, functional, as though Dieter Rams had personally overseen every step of its development.

Style and function aren’t mutually exclusive

At the heart of the new model is an APS-C image sensor with 16.5 megapixels. An innovation is the integrated Wi-Fi module that allows you to transfer images directly to a smartphone or computer, while remote control of the camera via a smartphone app is also possible. The Leica T will be offered in silver or black and will have its own series of lenses, with a zoom lens (18-56mm) and a fixed focal length (23mm). But by using an adapter, it's also possible to use the lenses of the professional Leica M models, "arguably the best 35mm lenses in the world".
For more information about the new Leica T, see leica-camera.com.
