Jacobsen en pole in extremis à Magny-Cours / Jacobsen steals Magny-Cours WSS pole on his final lap

Kenan Sofuoglu et Lucas Mahias l’accompagneront en première ligne.

PJ Jacobsen (CORE Motorsport Thailand) continue de mettre la pression sur Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) et a réussi à dérober la pole position au pilote turc (+0.040s) dans les tous derniers instants de la séance de qualifications de samedi après-midi en France. 

Tombé en début de séance, le tricolore Lucas Mahias (MG Competition) s’est bien relancé et s’est assuré la dernière place en première ligne, en étant tout de même à 1.352s de la pole position.

Kyle Smith (Pata Honda World Supersport Team), qui a lui aussi chuté, s’élancera en tête de la deuxième ligne, devant Alex Baldolini (Race Department ATK#25 MV Agusta) et Gino Rea (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda), sixième sur la grille après son impressionnante chute de vendredi matin, dans laquelle sa moto avait été détruite et qui l’avait donc privé de sa participation à la seconde séance d’essais. 

Lorenzo Zanetti (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) mènera pour sa part la troisième ligne devant Martin Cardenas (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) et le coéquipier de ce dernier, Kevin Manfredi, qui réalisait sa meilleure qualification en Supersport.

WSS title contenders line up side by side for what could be a title decider.

PJ Jacobsen (CORE Motorsport Thailand) kept the pressure on champion elect Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) by leaving it until his final lap to steal the WSS Pole Position at Magny-Cours as Lucas Mahias (MG Competition) bounced back from an early session tumble to snatch the final spot on the front row of the grid after some great repair work by his team.

Row two is headed by Kyle Smith (Pata Honda World Supersport Team) who also crashed with Alex Baldolini shining in 5th aboard his privately entered Race Department ATK#25 MV Agusta. The Italian will be one to watch tomorrow, especially if conditions are mixed. Gino Rea (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) took an impressive 6th after destroying his bike in FP1 yesterday and missing FP2 as his team raced to fix it.

Lorenzo Zanetti (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) will lead row 3 in 7th ahead of Martin Cardenas and his CIA Landlords Insurance Honda team mate Kevin Manfredi, who secured the best grid slot of his short WSS career.
