    WARFIGHTER MADE
    Warfighter made adapts, and customizes combat wounded service member’s/veteran’s vehicles, to overcome their injuries and reflect their individual personality.
    They invite ill, injured and combat wounded service members/veterans to participate in the build of a Warfighter Made owned project. Once completed, Warfighter Made funds those individuals to participate in events, shows, and races to show the world their accomplishments. Eventually the project will be auctioned off as a “Warfighter Made Vehicle”, with all the proceeds going back to the Warfighter Made Project Fund.
    They also work with other like minded nonprofits, businesses and individuals to ensure the service member/veteran gets the best experience possible.

    25H VW Fun Cup : Frédéric Vervisch place le McDonald’s Racing en pole position


    La B&O Super Pole des 25 Heures VW Fun Cup a tenu toutes ses promesses ce vendredi soir sur le circuit de Francorchamps. Comme le veut la coutume, les dix pilotes les plus rapides de la séance de qualification – qui a vu les 100 voitures engagées prendre la piste – ont pu s’élancer seuls face au chronomètre pour un unique tour lancé. Outre l’intérêt d’une pole position toujours très prestigieuse, les candidats savaient qu’ils pouvaient aussi décrocher de très beaux prix offerts par Bang & Olufsen, le partenaire de cette séance un peu particulière.

    Déjà le plus rapide lors de la phase traditionnelle de la qualification, Frédéric Vervisch a signé un tour pratiquement parfait pour confirmer lors de la B&O Super Pole. Comme l’an dernier, le Courtraisien fut étincelant lors de cette unique tentative. En 2’59’’669, il était le seul à descendre sous la barre des trois minutes. « L’an dernier, j’avais eu l’impression de ne pas avoir effectué un bon tour. Cette fois, ce fut nettement mieux ! », souriait ce pur talent du sport automobile belge. « Je suis vraiment très heureux de pouvoir offrir cette pole position à McDonald’s pour la deuxième année consécutive. Mais la course sera très longue ! »
    Demain, à 16h50, Fred Vervisch retrouvera à ses côtés la #280 de Socardenne, pilotée en B&O Super Pole par le jeune Kevin Balthazar, qui confirme ainsi son statut de révélation de ce début de saison. Lauréat l’an dernier avec Allure Team 2, Kevin Caprasse a cette année rejoint les rangs de Leader Racing et c’est à la troisième place de cette séance que le Liégeois a terminé, juste devant Edouard Mondron, justement au volant de la #277 d’Allure Team 2. Les lauréats de l’édition 2014 des 25 Heures VW Fun Cup ont devancé d’une fraction de seconde leurs dauphins de l’an dernier, l’équipe française SPI représentée durant cette B&O Super Pole par Alain Ferté.
    Se plaignant d’un moteur un peu poussif en ligne droite, Maxime Soulet n’a pu faire mieux qu’une 6e place, mais devant l’Italien Claudio Cappelli (8Ks Corse Team), les ex-lauréats des 25 Heures Pierre-Yves Corthals (Mega Fun Team) et Manu Nava (Acome Racing) et enfin Jonathan Vanderzijl (Poison Ivy – 4 Race). Sur la voiture du Belgian VW Club, les vedettes néerlandophones que sont Niels Albert, Louis Talpe et Ruben Van Gucht ont échoué de peu aux portes du top 10 grâce à leurs équipiers Bert Longin et Anthony Kumpen.
    Du côté des Biplaces, la pole position a été signée, durant la phase classique de la qualification, par la #342 de Milo Racing 2 (Gernaey-Fedorenko-Jacques-Da Palma-Rizzo-Nivarlet-Nevers) devant la #306 de Partners Guest Car (Beulen-Desaeger-Galand-Laffite-Rosoux-Mathy-Abrams-Tsamère-Kuppens) et la #371 du Team ComToYou (Baert-Hooreman-Henderick-Evrard-Nothomb).
    Après un ultime warm-up ce samedi matin à 9h00, c’est avec impatience que chacun attendra demain le départ de la course la plus longue du monde. Le soleil devrait être de la partie et le rendez-vous est donc pris à 16h50 !

    Marc Márquez a pulvérisé son propre record du circuit pour décrocher sa sixième pole position consécutive en Allemagne.

    En pole position et invaincu au Sachsenring depuis 2010, Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) a de nouveau excellé sur le circuit allemand samedi après-midi lors des qualifications pour la neuvième manche de la saison MotoGP™ 2015 et s’est offert une nouvelle pole position, sa quatrième de l’année suite à celles d’Austin, de Termas de Rio Hondo et du Mans. 
    Solidement installé en tête de la feuille de temps depuis le début du week-end, le Champion en titre n’a pas eu de rival à sa hauteur dans l’exercice du contre-la-montre et a battu son propre record du circuit, établi en qualifications l’année dernière, de six dixièmes de seconde. 
    Son coéquipier Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda), vainqueur au Sachsenring quatre fois en MotoGP™, s’est assuré un départ en seconde position et a conclu à près de trois dixièmes de seconde de la pole. 
    Seul autre pilote à être passé sous la barre des 1’21, Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) n’a pas pu rivaliser avec des Honda extrêmement à l’aise sur le tracé allemand mais sera au moins en première ligne après avoir terminé à trois dixièmes de seconde de Pedrosa. 
                    Pedrosa: “We tried some different bike setups and tyres”
    Andrea Iannone (Ducati) s’est pour sa part installé en tête de la deuxième ligne, devant Yonny Hernández (Octo Pramac Racing), qui avait été le plus rapide en Q1 et a parfaitement réussi sa Q2. Le pilote colombien, cinquième à 0.779s de Márquez, partira devant le leader du Championnat du Monde, Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP), qui complètera la deuxième ligne après avoir été en pole deux semaines plus tôt à Assen et n’aura donc été en première ligne qu’une seule fois sur la première moitié de la saison 2015. 
    Aleix Espargaró (Team Suzuki Ecstar), son frère cadet Pol Espargaró (Monster Yamaha Tech3) et Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech3), qui avait commencé sa séance en endommageant sa bulle d’un coup de casque suite à un début de highside, seront quant à eux en troisième ligne et étaient les trois derniers pilotes à moins d’une seconde du leader. 
                    
    Cal Crutchlow (CWM LCR Honda), Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) et Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) seront en quatrième ligne.
    Héctor Barberá (Avintia Racing), treizième devant Scott Redding (Estrella Galicia 0,0), sera le premier pilote Open sur la grille tandis que les Français Loris Baz (Athinà Forward Racing) et Mike Di Meglio (Avintia Racing) partiront respectivement 20e et 21e.

    The Repsol Honda rider’s 1’20.336 lap was enough to net him first position on the grid for this weekend’s MotoGP™ battle.
    This is Marc Marquez's 6th consecutive pole at the Sachsenring, leading to victory for the Spaniard for the last 5 years in a row. He said: "We will try for six wins, the most important thing is the confidence with the bike is really high. In this circuit I always get good results but this weekend I feel good and I’m constant. I was also fast over one lap so I’m happy, also happy with the work that we have done. Tomorrow is the most important so we have to keep on like this."
    Joining him on the front row are his team mate Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha).
                   
    Second place on the grid is Pedrosa's best qualifying result of the season: "Yeah, I was happy with my first feeling in the first run but Crutchlow didn’t see me and ruined my lap. Unfortunately I had to stop and change tyres and I wasn’t sure if we could do it on the second tyre because sometimes you don’t get the same feeling. Actually I produced a good lap and to get the front row at this track is very important. Hopefully we can make a little step tomorrow as Marquez’s pace is very high and we’re still missing a little. Hopefully we can make a good start and make the right tyre choice, which will be critical."
                     Lorenzo: “I found some problems”
    After starting from 8th in Assen, Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha) is back on qualifying form but concerned by the pace show by the Repsol Honda duo: "Impressive, it seems the Honda has no problems. They’re able to brake later and accelerate very soon. It will be tough to stay with them, I am the first Yamaha to do a 1’20 in this track so I am very happy with this lap time. I did my best and I didn’t get even close to them. I think our goal is to try to get the podium, the victory will be difficult but you never know. The podium is definitely achievable."
                       Iannone: “I am half satisfied”
    Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team) will start from 4th place, with Yonny Hernández (Octo Pramac Racing) in a very respectable 5th after having to fight his way through Q1. Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha) completes the second row in 6th.
                     Rossi: “We have to try to do better”
    The Espargaro brothers will have a chance to wish each other luck before the lights go out, given that they start together on the third row with Aleix (Team Suzuki Ecstar) in 7th and Pol (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) in 8th.
                     Smith: “A few small details that we need to improve'
    Rounding out the top 10 are British riders Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) and Cal Crutchlow (CWM-LCR Honda), who start from 9th & 10th respectively.
                    
    The MotoGP action continues on July 12 at 09:40 local time with the warm up session, with the race to start at 14:00.

    MotoGP ; Troisième pole position d’affilée pour Zarco / Zarco on pole for Moto2™ clash


    Le Français, vainqueur des deux épreuves précédentes depuis la pole, continue d’asseoir sa domination sur la catégorie Moto2™.

    Johann Zarco s’est emparé de la pole position pour le Grand Prix GoPro d’Allemagne et sera donc en tête de la grille pour conclure une exceptionnelle première moitié de saison 2015. 
    Après avoir remporté deux victoires d’affilée, ce qu’aucun Français n’avait réussi dans la catégorie intermédiaire depuis Christian Sarron en 1984, le pilote du team Ajo Motorsport était arrivé au Sachsenring en pleine confiance et, après avoir été devancé par Franco Morbidelli (Italtrans Racing) samedi matin, a repris l’avantage en qualifications avec un chrono de 1’24.044, le nouveau record du circuit pour la catégorie Moto2™. 
    En pole pour la troisième fois de suite et la quatrième fois de l’année, Zarco, qui mène le classement général avec 45 points d’avance sur le Champion en titre Tito Rabat (Estrella Galicia 0,0), aura dimanche rendez-vous avec l’histoire pour devenir le premier Français à s’imposer trois fois de suite dans la catégorie intermédiaire des Grands Prix mais aussi le premier pilote à remporter trois victoires consécutives depuis la pole en Moto2™.
    Zarco sera aussi particulièrement bien placé pour accroître son avance en tête du classement général puisque Rabat, son principal adversaire dans la lutte pour le titre mondial, ne sera que sixième sur la grille de départ après avoir fini à 0.463s de la pole. Zarco s’est en plus imposé à chaque fois qu’il est parti en pole position cette année, en Argentine comme en Catalogne et aux Pays-Bas.
    Huitième du classement général à exactement 100 points de Zarco, Xavier Siméon (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2), en pole en Allemagne en 2013, a été le seul à vraiment pouvoir s’approcher du leader de la catégorie en qualifications et a terminé à moins d’un dixième de seconde de la pole, en deuxième position, devant Morbidelli, qui n’a que trois points de plus que le Belge à son compteur. 
    Tom Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) et Simone Corsi (Athinà Forward Racing) seront quant à eux respectivement quatrième et cinquième sur la grille de départ, devant Rabat, tandis que les Allemands Sandro Cortese (Dynavolt Intact GP) et Jonas Folger (AGR Team) seront en troisième ligne, en compagnie de Sam Lowes (Speed Up Racing). 
    Très performant la veille, le vice-Champion Mika Kallio (Italtrans Racing) ne sera finalement que dixième sur la grille après avoir conclu à plus de six dixièmes de la pole, devant Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), Álex Rins (Páginas Amarillas HP 40) et Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten). 
    Ricky Cardús et Marcel Schrötter, qui avait chuté le matin, ont pris les 20e et 21e positions. Louis Rossi (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2) partira quant à lui 29e.

                   Zarco: “Every year I struggle a bit here”
    The French rider will start from pole for the German GP Moto2 race, ahead of Xavier Simeón & Franco Morbidelli.
    A lap time of 1'24.044 earned Zarco his fourth pole position of the season. He will be hoping to break away early in the race, but expects a fight: "We’ve had to work hard because yesterday we were not so fast. I also try to understand my strength and weaknesses. The pace for the race was good in the morning and our first target is to win the race tomorrow. We have to stay focused tomorrow because I think the race will be quite hard. I’ll try and break away but maybe we will have to fight with the others - I’ve enjoyed fighting this year."
    Xavier Simeón (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) makes a return to the front row - his last front row start was at the Americas GP when he took pole: "I think I can be strong in the race, we had a good pace in the morning and we rode well in Qualifying.I have good feeling with the bike and I think we can fight for the podium, but so can a lot of other riders as the lap time is very close. It’s four or five races we’ve fought for the top five but we’ve been lacking that last step to fight for the podium, hopefully we can make it today.
    For Franco Morbidelli (Italtrans Racing Team), this is only his second ever podium, having started from 3rd in Valencia in 2014: "I push very hard, it has been a pretty good lap. I had to do it a bit before the end because at the end everyone is looking for a tow so it was easier to set a lap time earlier. The important thing is the pace and it’s pretty good. Looking forward to tomorrow."
    Thomas Luthi (Derendinger Racing Intewetten) will start from 4th place, with Simone Corsi (Athiná Forward Racing) and Tito Rabat (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) joining him on the second row in 5th and 6th respectively.
    German riders Sandro Cortese (Dynavolt Intact GP) and Jonas Folger (AGR Team) will start from 7th and 8th, with Brit Sam Lowes (Speed Up Racing) in 9th. Mika Kallio (Italtrans Racing Team) completed the top ten.
    The Moto2 action continues on July 12 at 09:10 local time with the warm up session, with the race to start at 12:20.

    The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) has finally released official results from the 2015 race, restoring the times to those who reached the peak, and moving a few wins around in the process. Drivers of the Glen Clove finish were put behind those who ran the full course, according to the official results page released on July 2, 2015.
    The week of good weather that fell upon the mountain during practice was quickly tossed away when a storm front came in on June 28, 2015. In the noon hour, the peak saw heavy thunderstorms and snow. Drivers were forced to seek shelter in the peak’s gift shop until the storm blew over. Unfortunately, nearly a third of the course was covered in 3 inches of snow. In response, PPIHC closed the race course down to Glen Cove. Nearly half of the competitors were forced onto the shortened course and were scored behind those who reached the peak.

    In Electric Modified, Rhys Millen continued his dominance from the week, bringing his electric Drive eO PP03 to First Place and taking king of the mountain. This is the first time an electric car has taken the overall win at PPIHC, and while just short of breaking into the 8-minute zone, Millen’s 9:07.222-second run skinned about a second off of the previous electric-vehicle (EV) record. Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima took Second in his Tajima Motor E-RUNNER Concept1, on his 65th birthday. Rally legend and rally school owner Tim O’Neil placed Third on the short course in his Entropy Racing EVSR.
    In Electric Production, Rhys’ brother, Ryan Millen, placed First in his rookie race on the short course in his Toyota RAV4 EV, ahead of another PPIHC rookie, Mike Tsay, in his Honda Fit EV.
    Open Wheel saw Paul Dallenbach in his battle-hardened Dallenbach Special taking home the win with a 9:36.496, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the Second Place driver, Spencer Steele, and his PVA open-wheel car. Clint Vasholtz took a close Third, just 2 seconds behind Steele.

    Pikes Peak Open was finally reclaimed by rookie Jonathan Frost in his Palatov D2RS, running a 10:21.978 with no boost (disconnected boost controller). Rookie James Robinson took Second in his radical twin-charged Acura NSX, which, interestingly, uses electronic superchargers to feed the engine until the turbochargers come onto boost, eliminating the turbo lag that Pikes Peak cars suffer as they climb in altitude. Third Place on the short course was PPIHC veteran “Hot” Rod Moberly in his old-school, stock-car Camaro.



    In Vintage class, only Christopher Lennon had a clean run up the mountain, gaining First Place in his 1973 Porsche 911 RSR with an 11:37.969. Ralf Christensson, a regular champion of Vintage, took home Second Place in a 1966 Cobra with the short course. Ralf’s former teammate, Magnus Widen, took Third.

    Time Attack 1 was dominated by Jeff Zwart, with his twin-turbo, all-wheel-drive Porsche 911 with a 9:46.243. David Rowe returned after a short hiatus from the mountain, finishing Second on the full course. Justin Law rounded out Third on the full course, in a matte-silver Jaguar F-Type, with its supercharged V8 screaming up the mountain.

    Time Attack 2 was taken by David Donner with a 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S, taking the peak at 10:26.896. Raymund Guerrero was the last driver to safely make it to the peak in TA2 with his 2011 911 Turbo S. Jared Voight brought his 2010 Camaro SS back, but took Third with the short course.

    In the Unlimited class, Dominic Dobson took First with a 10:15.289 in the GoPro Motorsports Radical SR8. Jeff MacPherson took Second in his green Porsche “914-8,” which you can guess means a pretty wild V8-powered 914. Third was rounded by Steve Goeglein, who has raced Pikes Peak for 27 years—this year bringing back his wild NASCAR SB2-powered 2002 Camaro stock car.

    Old-School Hot Rods Built in a One-Car Garage

    Mike Walsh’s Early Vette Shop (EVS) in Shohola, Pennsylvania, is a champion of ’glass-bodied Chevys and exotic sports rides alike. It’s also a popular hub of hot rodding nestled in the Pocono Mountains, about 70 miles west of the Big Apple. The shop has become a go-to for Tri-state car aficionados looking for a place to hang out and talk shop while letting Walsh do what he does best: bring dusty and tired road-ragers back to life.
    Dave Baur lives just down the road from the EVS. He’s one of its frequent visitors and is a true-blue hot rodder, without question. Dave usually pulls up in one of his two custom-made roadsters: a W-motored, road-munching 1930 that he puts through the paces daily, or a flathead-fueled 1929 phaeton hybrid he’s been wrenching on for the last few years. Both cars were skillfully made from the spare and unwanted parts that were discarded by others. And it’s well known that Dave built every inch of both of these asphalt eaters by himself at his personal country home and fab shop, a place affectionately referred to around EVS as the “Shed.”

    On this this day, Dave arrives in his trusty 1930, the hot rod that he’s logged more than 70,000 miles in since he built it under a temporary tent structure on his graded dirt driveway. It’s also the rod that he’s driven down the East Coast and back more times than he can remember, and the same one that he consistently drives to hot rod festivities across the states.
    Walsh mentions to us that a visit to the Shed—Dave’s small, detached garage that he built next to his house—is in order. And after seeing that rowdy roadster of Dave’s, there was no question that a shop stopover was now etched into our daily planner.
    2 One Bay Hot Rod Build Lpr 2/45 Dave Baur’s Pennsylvania shop is known around his parts as the “Shed.” It’s a tight fit for both the 1929 phaeton and the yellow 1930 Ford roadsters, but Dave seems to make do.
    Gravel Driveway and a Tent
    Fifteen years ago, Dave moved into his current home. It was almost everything he wanted. It had a quiet lake location, was snuggled back off the road, and sat in the stillness of the thick Pennsylvania woods. It just didn’t have a garage to work in. Being a lifetime car guy, Dave decided that a lack of suitable roof overhead was not going to slow him down. He set up shop out on the dirt driveway and erected a heavy-duty tent to work under.

    Running power from the house, he built a chopped 1950 Mercury right there in the dirt—from the bodywork to the mechanicals, even the gloss-black paint. The Merc was well known in the surrounding towns, and from what’s been said, it stood on its own as a killer custom rod.
    Through the years, Dave continued to put together radical rides there in the gravel. The sturdy tent held up well for some time, until one winter when the Northeast got plowed under in the white stuff. Snow accumulated faster than Dave could get it off his car shelter and it collapsed under the weight of the snow—onto his project car. With that, Dave decided enough was enough, there was going to be a garage raising that spring.

    Dave went out that April and in true hot rodder fashion, he put up the Shed in just two weeks. Once completed, he ran a heavy electrical cable from the house for power, and his workshop was in business. Things were easier with a solid roof over his head, and his 24x14-foot workspace was just what he needed to pull off some more intricate custom rides.
    The 1930 Roadster
    Dave built the 1930 roadster while he was still out on the dirt. The project came to life after he rescued the body from a dump in Wyoming. He based his ride around a set of ASC reproduction deuce rails, which he narrowed to get the Model A body to fit just right. He then welded in a homebuilt transmission crossmember, as well as a custom rear crossmember to help cradle the drivetrain.

    Up front, he put a 4-inch dropped axle with a monoleaf spring to get the nose low. Out back, a triangulated four-link with a 1934 Ford leaf spring gives Dave the ride he wanted. For stopping power, he went with early Ford juice brakes up front and Chevy S-10 pickup brakes out back, as he wanted the functionality of a more modern braking system to run the roadster consistently.

    MISS UNIVERSE: SHAW SPEED’S HARLEY 48 CUSTOM






















    We don’t see many Sportsters with a racy slant. But this new machine from Shaw Speed & Custom shows what is possible. And it totally looks the part.
    ‘Miss Universe’ is a Harley Sportster 48 commissioned by Australian businessman Troy Barbagallo, who noticed Shaw’s Nascafe Racer and fell in love. He promptly got in touch with Shaw’s larger-than-life principal Steve Willis, and they started kicking around ideas.

    “Troy wanted a custom motorcycle in his garage, but it had to be his own, something unique,” says Steve. “Inspirations were his love of timepieces, working movements and details. He wanted a nod to the past with retro racers and bobbers, but with a twist of modern—a rideable piece of art.”


    The English workshop set to work. They’ve turned the humble Sportster into a classy retro-modern racer with British and European influences. There’s a lengthened custom swingarm, 21-inch wheels front and rear, and a race-style rear suspension with a rising rate Öhlins mono shock.

    At the front is a custom-made, parallel-link girder fork built by a MotoGP technician. Huge 13-inch rotors handle braking duties, with twin six-pot Performance Machine calipers.

    The remote oil tank is a low-slung chamber mounted under the back of the frame, and the gas tank is custom too—inspired by café racers. (It hides a dummy front end housing the wiring, battery, and ignition coil.)

    The frame has been modified with a twin perimeter rail to surround the engine and lower the tank, and is finished in Perrier water bottle green.

    The upper half of the fairing is a modified Ducati Panigale item. The seat unit is finished in the same grippy Alcantara fabric used on many race bikes.

    The bars are not clip-ons, but what Steve describes as “low mounted kick up bars.” The switchgear and master cylinders come from Performance Machine and Brembo, and there’s a quick-action race throttle with a side pull to keep things looking simple.

    The engine has been stripped back and fitted with new performance heads, a new throttle body, and a short but effective exhaust system inspired by the Britten race bikes.

    Miss Universe is not your typical Harley Sportster custom, but she’s attracted a lot of admiration already. Harley-Davidson Europe shipped the bike to Biarritz in France for the Wheels and Waves event, and if you missed it there, you’ll be able to see it in November at the EICMA show in Milan, where it’ll take pride of place on the Öhlins stand.

    Way back in 2010, Shaw Speed won the AMD Modified Harley-Davidson title in Sturgis—the first time a Harley dealer beat the custom workshops at their own game. If they enter Miss Universe into the next AMD World Championships, what are the odds of a repeat performance?
