New biopic to tell story of legendary motorcycle racer Barry Sheene

A new film documenting the story of legendary 1970s motorcycle racer and playboy Barry Sheene is currently in the works…

    Playboys and their toys

One of the most colourful characters on the 1970s motorsport scene, Barry Sheene won two 500cc World Championships, in 1976 and 1978, suffered two high-speed crashes in which he broke 67 bones in his body, and left an indelible impression on whoever he met – women, in particular. At the height of his career, he and his good friend James Hunt – whose famous duel with Niki Lauda in 1976 was immortalised in the film Rush – were commonly considered the playboys of the world. If ‘Sheene’ is anywhere near as enjoyable as Rush, motorsport enthusiasts are in for a treat…
You can find a selection of motorcycles from the 1970s listed for sale in the Classic Driver Market.
