THROWBACK THURSDAY. The Volkswagen Transporter celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, which is all the tenuous excuse we need to show this awesome Porsche-powered T3 bus video again.

The man behind the machine, Fred Bernhard, created the ‘Race Taxi’ by sticking the bi-turbo, 550bhp internals from a 1995 Porsche 993 onto a Volkswagen T3 chassis, and he spent a long time fettling to make everything perfect. The body shell is custom made, 21cm wider than a Type 2, and it houses four Recaro bucket seats. The Race Taxi is now world famous, but it was this 2006 video of it in action at Spa-Francorchamps that first propelled it into public consciousness. It’s just as good ten years later on this Throwback Thursday.
