Quatre courses, quatre catégories en un week-end pour Marc VDS Racing Team

Le Marc VDS Racing Team va prendre part au plus gros week-end de son existence les 16 et 17 mai prochains, avec quatre courses, de quatre catégories différentes, disputées sur trois circuits différents, et à peu près au même moment ! En tout, cela veut dire que l’équipe sera occupée pendant 47 heures et 5 minutes au long de ce week-end très particulier !

Pendant que le BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS s’attaquera aux 24 Heures du Nürburgring, le BMW Team Marc VDS prendra part aux 4 Heures d’Imola inscrites au calendrier des European Le Mans Series, tandis que le Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS disputera les courses de MotoGP et de Moto2 au Mans.

En Allemagne, Marc VDS ambitionnera de retourner sur le podium des 24 Heures du Nürburgring, avec même l’espoir de les gagner ! L’équipe avait manqué de peu la victoire en 2013, et avait vécu la même déception un an plus tard, en 2014. Mais elle est de retour cette année, avec deux équipages qui compteront sans aucun doute parmi les plus convaincants de cette édition. Deux BMW Z4 GT3 s’élanceront à l’assaut de la Nordschleife : la n°25 avec Lucas Luhr, Maxime Martin, Markus Palttala et Richard Westbrook, et la n°26 avec Dirk Adorf, Nick Catsburg, Augusto Farfus et Jörg Müller.

Le défi italien sera relevé par l’équipe engagée sur la BMW Z4 GTE 2015. Henry Hassid, Jesse Krohn et Andy Priaulx ont montré quelques belles choses au volant de cette voiture qui effectuait ses débuts à Silverstone. Inutile de dire qu’ils auront pour envie de se retrouver ensemble sur le podium, pour la première fois à Imola.

Au Mans enfin, Scott Redding poursuivra son challenge en MotoGP au guidon de la Honda RC213V. La moto n°45 a réalisé des essais très productifs à Jerez, et le pilote Britannique pourra capitaliser sur ceux-ci à l’occasion de la cinquième manche du Championnat du monde MotoGP.

Scott Redding sera rejoint en France par les deux champions du monde en titre que sont Tito Rabat – Moto2 –et Alex Marquez – Moto3 –, tous deux engagés sur des Kalex de Moto2. Rabat a réalisé son premier podium de la saison à Jerez, et ambitionnera bien sûr de poursuivre sa progression en Championnat du monde de Moto2. Quant à Marquez, il tentera d’inscrire quelques points supplémentaires en marge de sa découverte de la Moto2.

Nous restons sur notre faim là-bas. A Imola, je suis certain que nous pourrons poursuivre notre progression sur les solides fondations que nous avons construites à Silverstone. “Le début de saison a été particulièrement dur. Mais le podium de Tito à Jerez, et les performances signées par Scott lors des essais qui se sont déroulés à Jerez immédiatement après le Grand Prix d’Espagne ont montré que nous étions à nouveau dans le coup, et donc capables de de jouer à nouveau les premières places. Le Mans est une piste que tous nos pilotes adorent. Nous y avons également gagné avec Redding en 2013 et Kallio en 2014. Aussi, nous espérons que nous pourrons montrer de quoi nous sommes réellement capables, ce week-end en France. Je ne pense pas qu’il existe beaucoup d’équipe dans le monde capable de participer à quatre championnats et dans trois pays différents au cours du même week-end ! Mais je pense qu’en plus, le team ne se rend pas en Allemagne, en France et en Italie avec pour seule ambition de participer. Nous serons tous là avec l’ambition de nous battre pour le podium. Cette situation est vraiment unique, et aussi une belle manière de rendre hommage à Marc van der Straten dont la passion et l’engagement sont vraiment à leur plus haut niveau.”

Je suis franchement très heureux des choses que mon équipe a réalisées jusqu’ici. Ce week-end est pour nous une occasion de franchir un pas supplémentaire dans notre progression. Et j’ai vraiment hâte de voir ce que tout cela va donner. Mon seul problème a été de décider à quel événement j’allais assister ! Enduro /GP Portugal 2015 : troisième épreuve au Portugal

Une semaine après le GP d’Espagne à Jerez, les pilotes du Championnat du monde FIM d’Enduro (EWC) ont rendez-vous ce week-end à Gouveai, au Portugal, pour disputer la troisième épreuve de la saison.

Leader incontesté de la catégorie E1 où il a signé en Espagne un incroyable doublé, Christophe Nambotin (KTM) va tenter d’engranger des points supplémentaires pour asseoir sa suprématie. Eero Remes (TM) et Cristobal Guerrero (Yamaha) donneront tout pour contrer le triple champion du monde.

Danny McCanney (Husqvarna – Michelin) et Marc Bourgeois (Yamaha – Michelin) devront se ressaisir après un GP d’Espagne quelque peu décevant.

En Enduro 2, après un nouveau doublé d’Antoine Meo (KTM), ses rivaux n’ont déjà plus le choix. Avec 14 points de retard pour Pierre-Alexandre Renet (Husqvarna - Michelin), 18 pour Alex Salvini (Honda) et plus de 28 pour Johnny Aubert (Beta – Michelin),ces trois pilotes devront tout donner afin de réduire cet écart avant la mi-saison…

Derrière ces quatre hommes, les outsiders Jaume Betriu (Husqvarna - Michelin), Loïc Larrieu (Sherco - Michelin), Victor Guerrero (KTM), Deny Philippaerts (Beta) et Oriol Mena (Beta) se disputeront la dernière place du Top 5.

Auréolé de son premier doublé en E3 la semaine dernière, Mathias Bellino (Husqvarna - Michelin) débarque à Gouveia remonté à bloc. Le champion du monde Juniors devra cependant rester concentré s’il souhaite garder le leadership de la catégorie. Deuxième au général, Matti Seistola (Sherco – Michelin) ne pointe qu’à six points du Français.

Bellino devra également se méfier de Matthew Phillips (KTM), Manuel Monni (TM), Jonathan Barragan (Gas Gas) ou encore d’Aigar Leok (TM) et Thomas Oldrati (Husqvarna – Michelin).

Chez les Juniors, Giacomo Redondi (Beta - Michelin), Alessandro Battig (Honda) et les locaux Diogo Ventura (Gas Gas)et Luis Oliveira (Yamaha) devront rapidement stopper la montée en puissance impressionnante du pilote Husqvarna - Michelin, Jamie McCanneys’ils ne veulent pas accuser très rapidement un retard conséquent.

Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2014: BRMC

The video from our record-breaking Los Angeles Distinguished Gentleman's Ride, Sept. 28, 2014, has finally been released, covering the Griffith Park gathering and ride to Deus, via Hollywood, Sunset Blvd and the PCH, as well as our second leg down Hwy. 10 to DTLA and the final wrap party at the ACE Hotel.
An estimated 480 riders raised just under $50,000 towards Prostate Cancer research, making Los Angeles the number one fundraising city in the US and fifth in the world. LA was third, behind London and Sydney is terms of participants. Worldwide, the DGR raised $1.5 million.

pharaons rally ; Al Rajhi, Toia e Sonik at the top in the third stage

TIBNIYA – Pyramids are getting increasingly closer, with the third stage of 2015 Pharaons Rally that has passed the turning point with a varied day as usual with many kind of terrains. A wide loop of 346 kilometres, 319 of which of selective section, that has seen the victory of Yazeed Al Rajhi among the cars, Diocleziano Toia among the bikes and Rafal Sonik in the quad category.

Being fifth at the start this morning and exploiting this at his best, Yazeed Al Rajhi (Toyota) has doubled the success of the first stage again in front of Nasser Al Attiyah (Mini), who is definitely registered in second position. The gap between the two is 1’28’’ that becomes 3’38’’ for Erik Van Loon (Mini), finally actor of high level stage. Only fourth is the winner of yesterday, the Russian Vladimir Vasilyev (Mini), anyway only four minutes behind from the winner. Emil Kneisser (Nissan) has been winner of the T2, while the Polaris of Jean-Paul Van Bomen has settled everyone right in T3.

In the general classification Nasser Al Attiyah is still on top, with an advantage fallen to 2’16’’ over Yazeed Al Rajhi, while Vladimir Vasilyev is detached by 5’47’’.

Among the bikes victory would have gone to the Italian Diocleziano Toia (KTM), only 48’’ over the dominant of the Pharaons, the Emirates pilot Mohammed Al Balooshi (KTM). Conditional is a must, as many bike pilots have wasted time searching for a waypoint inserted in their GPS with wrong data. Decisions will be taken by the international jury. Third place has gone to Rafal Sonik (Yamaha), probable winner – obviously among quads, while we find the Polish Jakub Piatek (KTM) at the fourth place preceding Juan Carlos Salvatierra (KTM).

The general classification – also unofficial – sees on top always Al Balooshi with 6’39’’ over Piatek and 9’11’’ over Salvatierra. Sonik is absolute fourth, leading the quad classification with four minutes and half over Mohammed Abu Issa.

Tomorrow the fourth stage of the Pharaons that will get back among the cathedral dunes of Sitra with a stage of 457 kilometres, of which 343 are selective section.

Yazeed Al Rajhi (SAU – Toyota): “We had two “big” moments during the stage, landing on the nose of the car. I had a little bit of sore neck. 100 km before the finish we got a puncture but we were able to win the stage. When we arrived to the finish we realized that we overtook Malysz, but we didn’t see him.”

Nasser Al Attiyah (QAT-MINI): “After 80 km we overtook Vasilyev and we opened the track, but it was not easy, even if I remembered it because it had been last year stage. 10 km before the finish line, while passing some sand hills, we got stuck for two minutes… So three second positions and we are still leading in the overall.”

Erik Van Loon (NLD – Mini) “The first perfect day, finally! We spent two days to set up the car and today everything worked well. The stage was hard not only for the car but for the body too, because of the stones, but we used the soft suspension and it was a good decision. Finally we are back on track!”

Vladimir Vasilyev: (RUS – Mini): “It’s a fact that if you open the track you loose time and this is what happened today. In the three days or us or Nasser were in front, we are fighting against each other every single day and that is very exciting. We have a good starting position tomorrow.”

Rafal Sonik: (POL – Yamaha): “It was a particular day, someway good, someway bad, like a picture of the life. In my quad I use the bib-mousse, to avoid punctures, but with the heat the tyres became too hard and in the rocky sections it my quad was very difficult to drive. Than I played my joker with a two meters high jump, because I was in the dust and I went straight to a turn. Fortunately where I landed it was soft and I didn’t crash, it it was rocky I would have destroyed my quad.”

Mohammed Al Balooshi: (ARE – KTM): “Today I learned a lot from Nasser. With his great experience, when he made a mistake he remained calm and found the good way soon. I did a good stage and I’m happy: when you see that you are right in navigation and you get the result it’s extremely satisfying.”

Kuba Piatek (POL – KTM): “At 40 km I was leading opening the track, after Salvatierra’s mistake. The speed was not so high but I’m happy because here in Egypt I’m improving a lot my navigation skills.”
