The bustling GP paddock stopped everything they were doing this afternoon at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), to gather in front of the San Carlo Honda Gresini team garage and start the slow and somber procession towards turn 11 where Marco Simoncelli tragically lost his life almost a year ago (October 23rd).
A very moved Fausto Gresini placed the permanent plaque in the fallen rider’s honour while there was tribute moment of silence as everyone remembered SuperSic and at the end of touching ceremony an emotional round of applause as everyone filed past the tribute plaque to pay their personal respects.
Valentino Rossi said, “I miss Marco a lot, especially now that we are in Malaysia for the race. Here you realize that a year has gone by and it’s even worse. It’s a very hard feeling for me, but its worse especially for his family, his friends who could meet him every day in Coriano, everyone misses him so much. I miss the way he was, he’s was so pure, Sic was a real person and he was so much fun to be with. “
