    THE ROACH BY ICON 1000

    When the Portland based team at Icon set to work on a new motorcycle the results are always fascinating, unusual and sure to upset purists everywhere. Which I think is commendable.
    The Roach, as this bike is now called, started life as a stock 1986 Harley-Davidson Sportster. The Icon guys set about creating a v-twin dual-sport with a side of nuclear fallout, that 2 into 2 exhaust was custom made, the front forks were replaced, the rear suspension was swapped out to giver her a little more ride height.
    From a styling perspective, The Roach has been given the full Four Horsemen treatment and is now just about the perfect motorcycle for the impending societal collapse that people with wild eyes and large stocks of tinned fruit talk about.

      Next-gen Volkswagen Scirocco to be completely different

    'We don’t want to repeat the body style of the Scirocco, we want to change that'

     Volkswagen Scirocco debut at Geneva


    The next generation of the Volkswagen Scirocco will have an entirely different design.
    In an interview given to CarAdvice, VW's head of design Walter de Silva said the new Scirocco will have a "completely different" design when it will come out in 2015. He added Volkswagen does not want to repeat the same body style but refused to go into any details.

    De Silva mentions the new Scirocco will have a sportier appearance, following sister brands Audi and Seat with their recent models. Although it was confirmed for a new generation, the 2015 Scirocco is still in the design phase with only a few specifics signed off until now.

    Cyclops BSA A7 Plate Armor Bobber



    The Japanese custom motorcycle scene is without a doubt the most intriguing in the world. You only have to see images from some of the big shows like Mooneyes Yokohama and the Joints Custom Bike Show to know our friends from the East have it going on. Unfortunately distance, language barriers and a lack of online content make it difficult to gain access to details about these amazing bikes and so we're sometimes left with little more than a few tasty photographs. In this particular instance the bike is an A7 BSA Bobber named 'Plate Armor' by Japanese workshop Cyclops Motorcycle.

    The '55 BSA A7 OHV Star Twin features custom frame modification with brazed brass welds and nickel plated engine details. Looking over the bike you'll also spot some really neat custom made features such as the foot peg kickstand with a spring loaded locking mechanism, brass fixtures and copper lines, cloth wiring, and of course the super skinny girder front end and custom headlight. 

    The Kamikaze Chop Shop on the oil bag unfortunately didn't return any more details on Google, so for now we will have to settle with what we can see here in the photos. Cyclops motorcycle will be yet another workshop to and to the long list of "must visit" workshops when I get over to Japan.

    Indian Four with Indian Sidecar


    The Indian Motocycle Co was originally founded as the Hendee Manufacturing Company by George M. Hendee in 1897 to manufacture bicycles.
    During the 1910′s Indian became the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. The Indian factory team also took the first three places in the 1911 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy.
    Since the beginning of motorcycling one engine design has raised above all others reflecting enhancement, elegance and comfort. In the beginning it was Belgium’s F.N. four-cylinder motorcycle, later it was adapted by American companies like Pierce, Gerhart, Henderson, and later by Cleveland. In 1927 Indian decided to carry the banner of four cylinder motorcycles with the purchase and now ownership of the name, rights, and production facilities of the Ace Motor Corporation. Production was moved to Springfield and the motorcycle for a year was marketed as the Indian Ace.
    In 1931 when Ignaz Schwinn ceased production of his four cylinder Henderson motorcycle to save his bicycle empire. Indian was left as the sole provider of four cylinder motorcycles in the United States, and the Sporty Ace became the Indian Four.
    Despite low demand for luxury motorcycles during the Great Depression, Indian continued production of the Four and also continued to develop their motorcycles. One of the less popular versions of the Indian Four was the upside down engine on the 1936-1937 models. Although Indian didn’t sell as many Fours as it did the Chief and Scout models it was probably maintained as a technological flagship of the model lineup.
    The one you see here is a 1941 Indian Four with Indian sidecar, an amazing combination. This Indian Four has matching engine and frame numbers and was restored by Ted Tine’s Motorsports. This Indian Four has been tastefully restored in authentic Indian color scheme of Seafoam blue with white fender skirts. This bike has also earned 100 points at the Antique Motorcycle Club of America and is one of the best Indian Four restorations in the States. This vintage glory was up for auction at Bonhams for around US$ 75,000 – 90,000.
