LAND ROVER DEFENDER WIDE TRACK – KAHN EXPEDITION VEHICLE

It’s a British institution and it’s been made even more of an icon by British styling company Kahn. The Land Rover Defender Wide Track or the Kahn Expedition Vehicle is perhaps the best Defender money can buy. As custom Defenders become more popular it’s clear that there are only a few companies that can do it well. Twisted Performance and Kahn Design are the companies finest producers with Twisted specialising more in performance and Kahn in the interior and exterior design. I can only image what a Twisted Kahn production would be like.
The Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCI 90 Hard Top has had the full treatment from Kahn Design, based in Bradford, UK. The black wide body kit matches the sweet alloys on the car and finished in the iconic Tamar blue that we all know and love. This is just a few of the elements that Kahn have added to the Defender starting with the front & rear wide wings with integrated vents & bolt apertures, front bumper, bonnet vents with mesh stainless steel, fog lamps, headlamp grilles with mesh stainless steel, front grille with mesh stainless steel, 8×16 1948 Defend wheels in satin black fitted with 235 x 85 x 16” tyres, side vents with mesh stainless steel, crosshair military headlights, exterior Kahn prototype tailgate logo, exterior Kahn prototype wing blades, front bumper sump guard (aluminum), mud flaps, exhaust shields and Chelsea Truck Company Spare Wheel Cover.
The interior has had the same treatment with Kahn producing the finest Land Rover interiors in the country, if not the world. They have fitted front sports GTB seats in quilted & perforated leather, single spoke steering wheel Churchill time clock facia insert in red, dashboard & instrument binnacle in Harris Tweed, rear door panel & handle in Harris Tweed, vented foot pedals in machined aluminum and rev counter facia in red.
You can order the Kahn Defender in any colour you want but honestly I’d go with the blue or I reckon a really nice gun metal grey would look stunning.

Kia Niro concept shaping up for Frankfurt debut

Prime immagini ed informazioni sul conto della Kia Niro
South Korean manufacturer Kia will show up at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (12-22 September) with a brand new and pretty futuristic compact crossover concept simply calledNiro, a model that - as they put it - is meant to hint at a possible future B-segment contender ready to take on the urban environment.
The imposing figure of the Niro has been designed under the direction of Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Europe, at Kia’s Frankfurt design studio, which is actually less than a kilometre away from where the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) will take place. Kia didn’t say much about its powertrain, just stating it will be ‘innovative’, but given the many green insertes we can see throughout the body of the car - which we noticed when the first teaser came out - we bet it would be some sort of hybrid combination.
Niro’s unveiling in Frankfurt will be used to gauge potential customer response for future showroom models. Kia is probably thinking about releasing a model that will go on to compete with the successful Nissan Juke and the likes, but we will probably have to wait for a couple of years before seeing the final production version of the model. What we have here is a bunch of pics showing us a pretty dark and aggressive model which would look great in Batman’s garage, but we will wait to see it ‘in-the-metal‘ in Germany to see if it’s really that cool.

Rule, Britannia! British racing legends at the autumn auctions

    1929 Bentley 4½-Litre Open Tourer, estimate GBP 525,000 - 600,000.
Three significant British collectors’ car sales will be held over the next few weeks. Starting with Historics this Saturday, 100s of cars will be offered – many of them quintessentially British. Classic Driver has the catalogues, and presents a selection for you.

    Historics at Brooklands, 31 August

With an event held at the famous English banked track, it’s not surprising that the catalogue features so many reasonably priced cars from Jaguar, Bentley and other famous British marques. We like the 1990 Bentley Turbo R prepared for racing by the ‘Crondall Bentley Boys’, and the 1976 MGB GTS Sebring racer lookalike. There’s also a 1986 Jaguar XJS dressed up in the colours of the Silk Cut Racing Team.
You can see all the motor car entries to Historics’ 31 August Brooklands sale in the Classic Driver Market .

    RM Auctions, London, 8 - 9 September

Now for the big guns. After a steady pre-sale promotional campaign that included cars on display at Silverstone, the Nürburgring and now the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, RM will offer the ex-factory, ex-Ecurie Ecosse D-type Jaguar on the second day of its annual London extravaganza, Monday 9 September. It carries an estimate of £5,500,000 - 6,500,000. Another high-profile British car is the Mille Miglia-eligible 1929 Bentley 4½-Litre Open Tourer by Vanden Plas, likely to sell for a tenth of the price of the D-type.
And moving up to date, genuine Lotus Elan 26Rs don’t often come up at auction. RM’s is a 1964 car, the last Series 1 and was raced in period by Ray Parsons. Estimate: £140,000 - 180,000, and ‘No Reserve’, note.
You can see all the entries to RM Auctions’ 6 - 9 September London sale in the Classic Driver Market.

Bonhams Goodwood Revival Sale, 14 September

Finally, to the Goodwood Revival, where Bonhams will once again offer many eminently ‘Goodwoodable’ British cars. Likely to crack the million-pound mark will be the ex-Works, Irish Tourist Trophy, Brooklands 'Double Twelve'1931 Invicta 4½-Litre S-Type 'Low Chassis' Sports. And in a similar vein, how about the ex-Works, 1934 Le Mans 24-Hour Race, 1934 Singer 1½-Litre Le Mans Sports, for £90,000 - 120,000?
There is also the property of ‘Mr Lola’, Eric Broadley MBE, a 1959 Lola Mk 1 sports racer. And don’t forget another significant ex-factory car, the ex-TWR, 1987 Spa 1000km-wining, 1987 Silk Cut Jaguar XJR-8.
You can see the entire Bonhams' 2013 Goodwood Revival Sale online in the Classic Driver Market.
