When an Indian Four is Not in the Budget, Build One

Some antique motorcycles like the Indian inline four age really well, their design looks great even decades after their time, but, if you've ever noticed the few that come up for sale, the combination of rare and desirable means they're not cheap.

That was a problem for Mads B.H. Johnsen, a Danish architect who, after 10 years of riding a Nimbus, decided it was finally time for an Indian of his own, but who has that kind of money? Right about here, most riders would give up on their dream, but Mads isn't like most riders, so instead of trying to buy one, he decided to build one, or something reasonably close to it, using a few original parts and pieces, but for quite a bit of it, including the engine, he went his own way, scrounging things where available, but making and adapting a lot of what he needed and if you aren't that familiar with Indian fours, you might not know that this isn't the real thing.

The frame is part Indian, with a bit of Nimbus and a bit of workshop engineering. The engine is the venerable NSU air cooled four, the same engine used in the Munch Mammut. It has an aluminum block and cast iron cylinders and displaces 996cc. The gearbox is a Nimbus 4 speed. The front brake is Indian, the rear from a Nimbus, Bosch handles the electrics. Now all he had to do was fit everything together and add the visual cues that would set it apart.

    Cast aluminum tanks!
Mads fell back on the tried and true art of metal casting to conjure up the needed parts. The finned sump cover on the bottom of the engine cast from his own design. The clutch housing and adapter for the gearbox were also cast, and like the sump cover, required a LOT of hand finishing. The gorgeous tanks are also cast aluminum, again, fitted and finished by hand. The project took something like eight years to complete.

The end result has the appearance of a classic vintage ride, and though it never rolled off of any assembly line, looks like it did and then made its way to the present day in the hands of an owner who kept it in top condition. I like this a lot.

    2013 Brabus Widestar 800

    800 HP and 1,420 Nm !

Brabus has released an updated version of the Widestar 800 based on the 2013 Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG.
2013 Brabus Widestar 800 debuts at Qatar Motor Show
Two years ago Brabus revealed the G55 AMG-based Widestar 800 and now they are back with the G65 AMG variant. Showcased at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show, the high-performance SUV features a V12 6.0-liter bi-turbo engine producing an impressive 800 HP (588 kW) and 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft). However, torque is limited to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft). As a reminder, the regular G65 AMG churns "only" 612 HP (450 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft).
Thanks to this significant power upgrade, the Widestar 800 needs only 4.2 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) and can hit an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Without the limiter, the off-roader can reach 168 mph (270 km/h). Power is sent to the permanent all-wheel drive system through a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Aside from the power hike, the G-Class has also received the usual wide body kit with sculpted fender flares, front spoiler with LED DRLs, a new look for the front grille and widened wheel wells which provide enough space for 23-inch wheels. The car in these photos rides on 23-inch nine double-spoke wheels with 305/35 R23 high-performance tires.

Brabus is also offering the electrically-adjustable Ride Control suspension co-developed with Bilstein.

Wheelsandmore works on the Ferrari FF

Wheelsandmore has prepared an upgrade kit for the Ferrari FF.

Up to 700 HP  Wheelsandmore works on the Ferrari FF

The program begins with a new set of 6 Sporz² ultra-light forged wheels measuring 9.5x21 and 12x22 inches (front / rear) wrapped around in Pirelli P Zero Nero rubbers. There's also a proprietary stainless steel exhaust system featuring remote-operable valve flaps. The tuner says they are working on a new coilover and springs for the FF's suspension which should bring the car closer to the ground by 25mm (0.98 inches).
The stage 1 power boost costs 3,782 EUR and includes a remapped ECU and chip tuning which lifts output from 660 HP (485 kW) and 504 lb-ft (683 Nm) to 684 HP (503 kW) and 520 lb-ft (705 Nm). Stage 2 is available for 9,244 EUR and increases power to 700 HP (515 kW) and 527 lb-ft (715 Nm) thanks to the aforementioned exhaust and an ECU upgrade.
