Jorge Lorenzo takes command on day 2 at Sepang 2 test

    from TWOWHEELSBLOG
The second day of the second MotoGP test at Sepang saw Jorge Lorenzo for the first time lead the top of the timesheets after Dani Pedrosa dominated all three days of the previous Sepang test and day 1 before the day was cut short by rain.
The reigning World Champion first posted a 2′00.539 that he obtained his third lap in the morning session and when the track surface was a little more rubbered - everyone improved their yesterday’s lap times - and around 1pm he lowered it again to 2:00.282, which became untouchable for the rest of the field, but he was still a little more than one tenth off from Dani Pedrosa’s 2.000.100 lap posted on final day of the Sepang 1 test.
As usual Lorenzo impressed not only because of his best time, but with the ease that he in able to lay down a number of laps constantly under the 2.01 mark.
Title rival Dani Pedrosa ended up second and was almost four tenths adrift and the surprise of the day was Yamaha Tech3’s Cal Crutchlow who was third and ahead of the Repsol Honda rookie Marc Marquez who said that his aim was to do a lot of laps on his RC213V and in fact he did 64, only Nicky Hayden, Karel Abraham and Honda test rider Takumi Takahashi did more.

Valentino Rossi was back on his 2013 spec Yamaha M1 but it apparently didn’t bring him better luck as he was fifth and more than seven tenths adrift, and wasn’t able to dip under the 2.01 mark that the four rider ahead of him were able to do.
Alvaro Bautista was sixth and the last rider to be within a second of Pedrosa and he was followed by Stefan Bradl who dropped to seventh after yesterday’s 4th place.
Ducati’s Nicky Hayden shaved off more than 1.3 seconds from yesterday that put him in 8th and 1.496s from Pedrosa, while team mate Andrea Dovizioso also shaved almost a second and he finished in 9th.
Yamaha Tech3 rookie Bradley Smith was tenth and ahead of Pramac Ducati’s rookie Andrea Iannone who improved over 1.4 seconds, while Ben Spies on the other Ducati was just 17th, still battling his shoulder injury and having to shrug off a crash at turn 1 this morning.
Aleix Espargaro was the best CRT rider and he was followed by test riders Michele Pirro, Katsuyuki Nakasuga and Wataru Yoshikawa. Colin Edwards celebrated his 39th birthday, with the 23rd spot.
After missing yesterday’s first day Michael Laverty was forced to spend the better part of the day waiting. The PBM rider was able to complete only three laps this morning and another 16 in the afternoon as the team continued work on the new machine and the electronics.

GREAT !!!The Audi A1 quattro, put to the test in Munich

Double DTM champion Timo Scheider has taken the Audi A1 quattro for a full-force drive in Munich.

Despite the choppy framerate, Audi's latest video with the limited edition A1 quattro is still worth seeing with Timo Scheider behind the wheel at the biggest used car center in the world, located in Munich, Germany. This is Audi's way of promoting the center which will open later this summer.
As a reminder, the A1 quattro was limited to 333 units and all cars were painted in Glacier White. Under the hood is a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo engine with 252 hp (188 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. It works together with a 6-speed manual and Audi's quattro system, helping out the German pocket-rocket reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 152 mph (245 km/h).

‘Masters of Modern Car Design’: Top stylists’ inspiration revealed in new book from WAFT

Walter de Silva, J Mays, Adrian Van Hooydonk, Lorenzo Ramaciotti and five other of the world’s leading design directors bare their souls to the famous Belgian publishing team led by Bart Lenaerts.

While many of us probably doodled a Ferrari ‘Daytona’-type supercar in our rough books during double maths, these guys went on from that stage in their lives to brilliant careers in styling and design for the worldwide car industry.I expect they were pretty nifty with a slide rule, too.Bart Lenaerts’ latest book (following in the honourable footsteps of ‘WAFT 1’, ‘WAFT 2’ and his previous ‘Ever Since I Was a Young Boy I’ve Been Drawing Cars’ volume on Belgian-born designers) talks to these sultans of style: men responsible for the general direction of whole car groups, not mere marques.

As with any book from WAFT, it is beautifully presented and, even better than that, the written content matches the visual.
The world of the top stylist is a cerebral one. It’s also an emotional and very personal one. When one hears V.A.G.’s Walter de Silva describing his nine different brands (VW, Audi, Bentley, Seat, Lamborghini, Škoda, Porsche, Bugatti and VW Commercial Vehicles) as ‘children’, you know this man is really speaking from the heart. As do the eight other subjects of the 30cm x 30cm, 252-page, English-language book. For those interested in the thought processes behind the eventual family ‘look’ of a manufacturing group, the story behind individual models, or who are considering a career in car design, this is a ‘must have’ on the bookshelf.

Paddock girl : Sexy bikers: the Rockstar Energy Girls

The motorsport enthusiasts that use to attend racing events across the world know that only too well: when a charming paddock girl offers you a free cold drink under the sun it is almost impossible to say ‘no’, and given the proliferation of energy drink-related sponsors in both MotoGP and Superbike Championships battling against each other with armies of pretty ladies in shorts, that’s a war that, for once, we cannot help but support in full.
One of these companies is Rockstar, a brand that many racing fans have become familiar with in recent years due to its massive commitment with the racing world, both on- an off- the track, and even if we are not allowed to express any judgment on the actual beverage for obvious reasons, we can safely be more than appreciative of the hordes of Rockstar Energy Girls haunting most racing events on both sides of the pond.
To pay tribute to these gorgeous ladies, we present you with a cool video and an equally awesome photo gallery starring some of the most beautiful soldiers of this heroic and peaceful army, collected here and there at various events. Check them out, and you’ll probably become a little more thirsty…
