Shelby announced this week a revised 1000 S/C which offers more than 1,000 hp (746 kW).
In May last year Shelby introduced the2012 Ford Shelby GT500-based 1000model which offered 950 hp (708 kW). Shelby American says 40 to 50 customers purchased the car but all of them opted for the S/C variant as it produced 1,200 hp (895 kW). However, the extra horsepower came with a major downside as the car lost its street legal status.

For the revised model Shelby plans on producing the 1000 S/C model which can be driven on the streets and offers more than 1,000 hp (746 kW). While the previous model used a supercharged V8 5.4-liter engine, the new one makes use of a supercharged 5.8-liter borrowed from the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. In-depth upgrades were made as it boasts a new 4.0-liter supercharger, new rods, pistons and rings, as well as a more efficient cooling system and a different fuel system with new injector. The 6-speed manual gearbox has also been revised.
After the modifications were made, the car offers 1,200 hp (895 kW) at the flywheel but taking into account an approximate 15 percent driveline loss, the new model offers somewhere in the region of 1,020 hp (760 kW) to 1,050 hp (783 kW).

Set to be showcased next week at the New York Auto Show, the 2013 Shelby 1000 S/C will have a starting price of 209,990 USD, making it 154,995 USD more expensive than a 2013 Shelby GT500 which begins at 54,995 USD.
