2014 Toyota Highlander shows its metal before New York arrival
Looking more evolved
The first official images with the 2014 Toyota Highlander have surfaced, just a few hours before the car gets unveiled in New York.
Looking more evolved than before, the new Highlander has sweptback headlights and wraparound taillights, along with a sculpted hood, roof-mounted rear spoiler and a prominent front grille. Around the wheel wells it features plastic body cladding and below the fog lights it has LED daytime running lights.
From the only interior photo available so far we notice leather upholstery with red stitching, a subtle wood trim and a few metallic accents for the dashboard, vents, gear shift knob and steering wheel. The model featured here has an automatic transmission, start button, GPS navigation and dual climate control.
Chances are it has the same engines as the Camry so it's likely to get a 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter with 178 bhp (133 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft), along with a larger V6 3.5-liter offering 268 bhp (200 kW) and 336 Nm (248 lb-ft) of torque. Toyota will probably offer a hybrid version with a 141 hp (105 kW) electric motor and a 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter rated at 156 hp (116 kW).
Full details will be available before the end of the day.

Hyundai HND-9 Concept revealed
previews new Genesis Coupe
Hyundai has presented the HND-9 Conceptat the 2013 Seoul Motor Show this week.
Conceived as a preview for the next-gen Genesis Coupe, the firm's ninth concept (hence the designation) measures 4,695mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,340mm tall, with a 2,860mm wheelbase. Its dramatic styling represents an evolution of the Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy and brings an elongated hood, powerful character lines, butterfly doors and a hexagonal-shaped grille.
It rides on 22-inch alloys made with carbon materials and has dual exhausts on both sides. The interior was developed to provide a luxurious and modern driving experience, with sporty seats which project different colors depending on the angle these are seen from. The high-tech interface is driver-oriented and has been modeled after a cockpit.
The rear-wheel drive coupe is powered by a 3.3-liter GDI turbocharged engine producing 362 bhp (270 kW) linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
