Valentino Rossi to enter VR46 Racing team in Moto3 in 2014

Despite the usual denials in the last few weeks from Valentino Rossi regarding his entering a Moto3 team in the World championship team in 2014, his project, according the Gazzetta dello Sport has been officially formalized.
Rossi and his VR46 Racing Team or Team VR46, is one of the 17 applicants that submitted their requests last Friday at the San Marino Grand Prix, that have been provisionally accepted.
Rossi’s new team will however have to lodge a security deposit, by October, in order to guarantee their entry with details regarding their proposed riders.
VR46 Racing team is a new step forward for the former World champion after creating the VR46 Riders’ Academy at his Motor Ranch in Tavullia in order to prepare young racing talents.
For the debut season, the new two rider squad is expected to field two competitive KTM Moto3 machines, and with all probability Romano Fenati will be at the helm of one of the bikes while Rossi’s step brother Luca Marini could be riding the second, if he doesn’t decide to continue to ride in the CEV to gain more experience, with a couple of programmed wildcard appearances in Moto3.
Rossi will also be collaborating with the Italian Motorcycle Federation to also find new budding Italian racing talents.

moto gp: Marc Marquez wins Aragon GP

Marc Marquez has won the MotorLand Aragón GP at Alcañiz taking his sixth victory of the season flys to +39 points in the World standings over Jorge Lorenzo and +59 over team mate Dani Pedrosa, with just four rounds left in the championship.
The Aragon GP looked like it would be a repeat of Misano, with Jorge Lorenzo clearing out in the first meters of the race and pulling more than half a second gap in just seven turns of the first lap and closed out the initial lap with a one second margin.
The first lap was marred by an incident between Michael Laverty, Danilo Petrucci and debuting Luca Scassa, in the meantime Marc Marquez was trying to shorten the gap between himself and Lorenzo and pulling with him Dani Pedrosa, as the veteran Honda rider posted during the second lap. a record breaking lap 1’48″565 and shattering Casey Stoner’s 2011 record.
On the fourth lap the HRC duo caught the Yamaha rider as Pedrosa passed his team mate at turn 7, one lap later Marquez would try to take back the second spot and at turn 12 the rookie ran hot and wide touching his team mate’s traction control rear tire sensor, and just a few yards later Pedrosa would have a horrific highside as his rear wheel was no longer reading the TC.
Pedrosa had to be stretchered off track and taken to the medical center with a suspected knee injury and contusions to his hip and pelvis, but the latest news have cleared the rider from serious injuries.
Running off track Marquez and losing almost 1.9 seconds he had to regroup and start chasinng down Lorenzo again and with just 10 laps remaining caught him with relative ease and passed him at turn 12, but it seemed that Yamaha rider just let him pass and there was no battle between the two, as the rookie broke away to take his sixth victory.
Finally back on the podium in third was Valentino Rossi. The Italian had another entertaining battle in the penultimate laps with an aggressive Alvaro Bautista.
However the Spaniard could not completely concentrate on Rossi as the passed each other as he found himself in the clutches of Stefan Bradl. The two Honda satellite riders exchanged hard passes and Rossi managed to put some breathing space on the final lap to cross over the finish line ahead of Bautista, Bradl and Cal Crutchlow, who never fully recovered after running off track in the opening lap.
Taking a lonely 8th was Yamaha Tech3s Bradley Smith far ahead of the Ducati factory riders Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden and Pramac’s Andrea Iannone who closed out the top ten.
