Atlanta’s ‘Dream Cars’ exhibition is an automotive fountain of youth

This summer, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta will throw open its doors for the ‘Dream Cars’ exhibition, showcasing 17 of the most innovative and imaginative concept cars the world has ever seen…

‘Innovative Design, Visionary Ideas’ is the tagline, neatly summarising the concept behind the exhibition. Conceptual drawings, patents and scale models will be paired with the actual realised cars, which range from the early 1930s right through to the 21st Century. The idea is to show the development process behind each car, demonstrating how the designers pushed the technological envelope, not only to showcase their audacity, imagination and talent, but also to influence the future of car design.

A beautiful Bug and a mind-blowing Modulo

Of the 17 concepts on show, our favourites include Marcello Gandini’s outrageously styled Stratos HF Zero (which measures in at just 33-inches tall), Christopher Bangle’s BMW GINA Light Visionary Model, and Jean Bugatti’s simply stunning 1935 Aerolithe Coupe. Paolo Martin’s Ferrari 512S Modulo is also worthy of a mention, simply for the fact that almost every feature defied convention, making it look more spaceship than supercar as a result.

It is thanks to the experimentation and dreams of these designers, challenging the notion of what was possible, that we ended up with some of the most iconic cars ever built. ‘Dream Cars’ follows theHigh Museum’s successful ‘Allure of the Automobile’ exhibition, and will run from May 21 to September 7 2014.

Dovizioso et Crutchlow avec Pirro en Italie

Le team Ducati comptera trois pilotes ce week-end au Mugello pour son rendez-vous annuel avec les Ducatisti.

Pour le clan Ducati, le Grand Prix TIM d’Italie est une course à part du fait qu’il s’agisse de la course à domicile du constructeur de Borgo Panigale mais aussi parce que c’est le rendez-vous que privilégient les Ducatisti pour soutenir la marque italienne.

Andrea Dovizioso et Cal Crutchlow peuvent d’ores et déjà s’attendre à un soutien sans faille de la part des nombreux fans qui seront réunis dans la tribune Ducati du virage de Correntaio et seront accompagnés ce week-end du pilote d'essais Michele Pirro.

Ce dernier a été engagé en wildcard pour la deuxième fois de la saison afin de travailler en contexte de compétition sur une version expérimentale de la GP14.

Dovizioso, qui avait fait ses débuts en 125cc au Mugello en 2001, a affirmé : « Le Mugello est un circuit qui convient un peu mieux aux caractéristiques de notre GP14 et je pense que nous pouvons donc faire un bon week-end. Notre approche consistera à tirer le meilleur de notre moto. J’avais eu une belle cinquième place l’an dernier et j’espère à nouveau faire une bonne course cette année. Nous avions fait un test privé là-bas avant d'aller au Mans et ça avait été positif. Maintenant je suis impatient d’arriver au Mugello pour notre course nationale, qui a toujours une ambiance particulière. »

Crutchlow a ajouté : « Je pense que courir en Italie, chez Ducati, au Mugello, va être une sacrée expérience. La piste m’avait bien réussi l’an dernier, je m’étais qualifié quatrième et j’avais fini sur le podium en prenant la troisième place. Andrea et moi allons pousser à 100% afin d’être compétitifs, même si ce ne sera pas facile. J’ai déjà hâte de voir tous les fans de Ducati et je suis sûr que ce sera la folie ! »

Trial : Adam Raga au pouvoir / Adam Raga leads the world

Accueillant pour la première fois une épreuve du championnat du Monde de trial, la Corse aura marqué le Mondial de son histoire ! Après que la compétition soit interrompue au cours de la première journée, l’épreuve a été marquée par la prise de pouvoir d’Adam Raga (Gas Gas) vainqueur de sa troisième course de rang.

Scénario improbable samedi, quand à l’issue du premier tour les pilotes Pro remirent en cause les temps accordés pour boucler les deux derniers tours de course. Le jury décida alors d’interrompre l’épreuve et d’apporter des modifications au tracé en vue de la seconde journée de course.

Débutant comme souvent par une prise de pouvoir de Toni Bou (Montesa Michelin), l’épreuve changea de physionomie quand le champion du Monde sortant, commit deux échecs lors du second tour. Raga n’en demandait pas tant et s’emparait du commandement, signant deux excellents tours pour s’imposer pour la troisième fois consécutive à Bou, Albert Cabestany (Sherco Michelin) prenant la troisième place.

L’Espagnol Jorge Casales (Gas Gas) et l’Italien Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) complètent le top cinq, repoussant Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Michelin) et Jeroni Fajardo (Beta Michelin) aux sixièmes et neuvièmes places.

For the first time in its history the French island of Corsica met a Trial World Championship round, and for sure this race will stay in the memories! At first the race was stopped during the first day, and then the event saw Adam Raga (Gas Gas) beating the reigning World Champion to lead the series.

It was a strange Saturday, as after the first of the three laps program the Pro riders refused to compete the course within the allotted time. The jury decided to stop the race and to make modifications to several sections, as well as extending the overall time allowance for the second day of racing.

As usual Toni Bou (Montesa Michelin) was the first leader of the race, but when the reigning World Champion failed twice during the second lap Raga was there to take the lead, posting two incredible laps to secure his third win in a row. Bou ended the race in second position, followed by Albert Cabestany (Sherco Michelin). Spaniard Jorge Casales (Gas Gas) and Italian Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) finished fourth and fifth, relegating usual top contenders Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Michelin) and Jeroni Fajardo (Beta Michelin) in sixth and ninth positions.
