Hiroshi Aoyama will be forced to miss this weekend’s MotoGP round at Assen. The Japanese rider who was already carrying a number of injuries (a fracture to his left thumb and ligament damage to his left knee) crashed out during the third free practice in Catalunya, sustaining a further finger injury that forced him to skip the race and be replaced at the last minute by Javier Del Amor.
Aoyama underwent surgery in Barcelona at the Deuxus Clinic where they amputed the distal phalange (the tip) of his fourth finger of his left hand.
Former Avintia Blusens MotoGP rider Ivan Silva is expected to replace Aoyama on the Kawasaki-FTR not only at Assen, but also at the Sachsenring and Laguna Seca GPs rounds.
