CUSTOM KTM 640 ADVENTURE BIKE BY MACETECH INDUSTRIES

This bad ass looking custom KTM 640 has been built by MaceTech Industries from Baker, Florida. I’ve always been a huge fan of KTM bikes but a custom is even more exciting. MaceTech steampunk look custom is brilliant. It started out life as a KTM 640 adventure bike. Which if you search for one online it looks quite different from the way it looks now. They had to change the suspension around quite a bit to knock the bike back down to ground level and also fit 17′s to the front and rear. All the body work is steel, gas tank, rear hump, all obviously hand built. Exhaust system and mufflers where built by me as well.
The 2000 model KTM 640 Adventure, with a water-cooled 625cc single cylinder hidden under acres of plastic. “With that giant coffee-can piston swinging around, the KTM can be a bit teeth-chattering,” says Mace. “Tons of usable torque though, and the bike is very light—despite its looks.”
Most people go with Cone engineering’s pre built mufflers but they needed something with a little more bark. So MaceTech designed these to squeeze as much bass from the single cylinder engine as they could. Rich Craig from Cone hooked them up with the raw stainless to put everything together. They give the bike a really impressive low rumble. MaceTech said “I’ve always been a fan of cafe racers but the concept of hiding all the meticulous metal work that goes into these bikes just does’nt sit well with me so on this bike I made no attempt to hide and of the construction. No welds are ground down, nothing is polished or buffed, and certainly no body filler. Even the tank is sealed 100% by welds. No internal coatings or anything of the sort.”
They described the bike build “I really enjoyed building this bike, its a bit different from anything I have built in the past but that was something else that made it fun. I realised when building it that lots of people won’t like it and I’m fine with that. Its not your average bike that gets lost in the crowd at a show, people either love it with a passion or they cant stand it. Its that kind of polarization that I’m looking for. The worst thing a bike could ever be, is easily forgotten.”
