Italian collector Corrado Lopresto is always good for a surprise – and this year he impressed the audience, with his Aprile-bodied Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport Spider Corsa claiming the coveted Coppa d’Oro...
Lopresto’s striking milk-white and teal-blue Alfa roadster is not strictly original. It began life as a 1931 6C 1750 GS with Zagato bodywork and, after being crashed, was bought by Giuseppe Aprile in 1938. Aprile’s own carrozzeria then set about creating more modern coachwork, with the design drawn up by Count Revelli de Beaumont. Lopresto acquired the car in 2008, restoring it to its 1938 configuration – and narrowly missed out on a class win at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours. Back on its home turf, the unique Alfa was awarded the coveted Coppa d’Oro.
