MOTO GP : Rossi : « Remporter le titre n’est pas impossible » / Rossi evaluates title chances for 2015

Présent en conférence de presse jeudi à Valence, Valentino Rossi a discuté de ses chances de lutter pour le titre MotoGP™ l’an prochain.

Avec deux victoires et un total de douze podiums cette année pour sa quinzième saison dans la catégorie reine, Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) a été nettement plus performant qu’en 2013 et espère continuer à gagner en compétitivité l’an prochain.

Lors de la conférence de presse précédant le Grand Prix Generali de Valence, le nonuple Champion du Monde a été invité à parler de ses chances de revenir au sommet de la hiérarchie en 2015 et a affirmé : « Je ne pense pas que ce soit impossible pour l’an prochain. C’est l’objectif et je le dis parce que nous sommes capables de progresser d’ici l’an prochain. Le travail pour la saison prochaine a déjà commencé, au long de la saison et même depuis le dernier test de la saison dernière. Nous avons déjà démontré un bon potentiel. »

« Je pense que je peux progresser l’an prochain, d’autant plus que mon team et plus particulièrement Silvano (Galbusera, son chef mécanicien) auront une année d’expérience en plus. Il pourra progresser parce qu’il connaîtra mieux le MotoGP. Nous pouvons aussi améliorer la façon dont nous travaillons puisque ce n’était que notre première saison ensemble. Je le connais mieux maintenant, il me connaît mieux et sait ce que je veux de la moto. »

Rossi annonce cependant que la tâche s’annonce ardue, notamment en raison du niveau de ses adversaires, dont Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) ou encore son coéquipier Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) : « Mais ce sera très, très dur et je m’attends tout d’abord à ce que Jorge soit très fort dès le début de la saison. Il a eu des problèmes au début de l’année mais après le Sachsenring il a été fort sur tous les circuits et c’est clairement un prétendant. Puis il y a Marc, il ne faut pas oublier qu’il a remporté douze courses cette année. C’est dix de plus que moi et il a beaucoup de points d’avance ! »

« Pour essayer de remporter le Championnat face à ces deux-là, nous devrons franchir une autre étape et je vais essayer. »

In Thursday’s press conference at Valencia Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi spoke about his target to win the MotoGP™ title in 2015.

Rossi has produced another remarkable set of performances in 2014, improving on his 2013 form with 12 podiums and two victories this year – in his 15^th premier class campaign.

The nine-time World Champion believes a tenth World title is achievable and gave this assessment of his chances, “I think that it is not impossible next year. This is the target and I say that because we can improve from this year to next year. Already the work for next year started, throughout all this season, in fact from the last test of last season. We have demonstrated good potential already.”

“I think I can improve next year, especially my team and especially Silvano (Galbusera - Crew Chief) with one year more of experience. He can improve because he knows MotoGP better. We can also improve the way of working between us because it has just been the first season. I know him better now and he knows me more, and the way I want the bike.”

However, Rossi also acknowledged, “But at the same time it will be very, very hard, because firstly I expect Jorge to be very strong from the beginning. At the beginning of this year he had some problems but from Sachsening he’s been so strong at all the tracks, so he is a real contender. Then with Marc we cannot forget that he won 12 races this year. That is ten more than me and he has a lot of points advantage!”

“So to try to fight for the championship with these two guys we have to make another step. I will try.”
