La deuxième manche du championnat European Le Mans Series 2015 se déroule ce week-end sur l’Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari d’Imola où débuteront les BR01-Nissan/Michelin de l’équipe russe SMP Racing.
Conçu par l’Italien Paolo Catone, les prototypes LM P2 BR01-Nissan chaussés de pneumatiques Michelin font partie des attractions de ces 4 Heures d’Imola 2015.
Un mois avant les 24 Heures du Mans, c’est en Emilie-Romagne que l’équipe russe SMP Racing a choisi de faire débuter ses deux exemplaires confiés à Minassian/Mediani/Markosov N°27 et Aleshin/Ladygin/Ladygin N°37, face à une concurrence redoutable.
Après sa victoire aux 6 Heures de Spa face aux protagonistes du FIA WEC, l’équipe Jota Sport (Gibson-Nissan N°38 Dolan/Albuquerque/Tincknell) entend bien poursuivre sur sa lancée et s’imposer à Imola où l’équipe britannique Greaves Motorsport (Gibson-Nissan N°41 Hirsch/Wirdheim/Lancaster) arrive en leader du championnat après son succès à Silverstone.
Hormis Eurasia Motorsport (Oreca03-Nissan N°33), tous les engagés LM P2 ce week-end ont déjà leur invitation pour les 24 Heures du Mans 2015. Ces 4 Heures d’Imola serviront aussi de préparation mancelle pour Krohn Racing (Ligier JS P2-Judd/Michelin N°47 Krohn/Jonsson/Negri), Thiriet by TDS Racing (Oreca05-Nissan N°46 Gommendy/Badey/Thiriet), Ibanez Racing (Oreca03-Nissan N°44 et N°45), Murphy Prototypes (Oreca03-Nissan N°48 Berthon/Lyons/Patterson) ou encore Pegasus Racing (Morgan-Nissan/Michelin N°29 Roussel/Cheng/Schell).
La nouvelle catégorie LM P3 accueille un prototype Ginetta-Juno/Michelin de plus qu’à Silverstone, engagé par la Scuderia Villorba Corse. Sir Chris Hoy et Robertson (Team LNT) viseront une seconde victoire ELMS avant de participer à la Journée Test du Mans le 31 mai.
Sur les 13 GT attendues sur le circuit Enzo e Dino Ferrari (4,909 km), on compte logiquement 8 Ferrari 458 Italia dont 5 engagées par la seule écurie AF Corse. Marc VDS Racing, Gulf Racing UK, Proton Competition, TDS Racing et Massive Motorsport tenteront néanmoins de faire briller BMW, Porsche, et Aston Martin.
Débuts des essais libres samedi matin, qualifs dimanche 17 mai à partir de 10h00 et départ des 4 Heures d’Imola à 14h00. Aucune course de support n’est programmée.
Round two of the 2015 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) will take teams to Autodromo Enzo i Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy, this weekend. It will be the first outing for SMP Racing’s new BR01-Nissans.
Designed by Italian Paolo Catone, the new Michelin-equipped BR01-Nissan LM P2 prototypes will be part of the draw of this weekend’s 4 Hours of Imola.
With a month to go before the Le Mans 24 Hours, Russia’s SMP Racing has chosen the Italian race for the first appearance of its new cars. They will be in the hands of Minassian/Mediani/Markosov (N°27) and Aleshin/Ladygin/Ladygin (N°37) who face some stiff opposition.
Following its win at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps against the FIA WEC elite, Jota Sport (N°38 Gibson-Nissan, Dolan/Albuquerque/Tincknell) will be out for more success at Imola in order to catch Greaves Motorsport (N°41 Gibson-Nissan, Hirsch/Wirdheim/Lancaster) which tops the provisional ELMS order thanks to victory at Silverstone.
With the exception of Eurasia Motorsport (N°33 Oreca03-Nissan), all next weekend’s LM P2 runners have been invited to race at Le Mans in June. As a result, the 4 Hours of Imola will serve as preparation for the visit to La Sarthe for Krohn Racing (N°47 Ligier JS P2-Judd/Michelin, Krohn/Jonsson/Negri), Thiriet by TDS Racing (N°46 Oreca05-Nissan, Gommendy/Badey/Thiriet), Ibanez Racing (N°45 and N°44 Oreca03-Nissans), Murphy Prototypes (N°48 Oreca03-Nissan, Berthon/Lyons/Patterson) and Pegasus Racing (N°29 Morgan-Nissan/Michelin, Roussel/Cheng/Schell).
The new LM P3 class will feature an additional Ginetta-Juno/Michelin for Scuderia Villorba Corse compared with the Silverstone entry. Sir Chris Hoy and Robertson (Team LNT) will be targeting a second class success ahead of an appearance at the pre-Le Mans test day on May 31.
The 13 GT entries at Imola (4.909km) include eight Ferrari 458 Italias, five of which will be run by AF Corse. Marc VDS Racing, Gulf Racing UK, Proton Competition, TDS Racing and Massive Motorsport will attempt to counter the Italian machines in the names of BMW, Porsche and Aston Martin.
First free practice is on Saturday morning (May 16), followed by Sunday’s qualifying (10am local time) and the race itself at 2pm. No support races are programmed.
