WSBK ; Rea décroche son quatrième doublé de l’année à Portimao / Double Portuguese WorldSBK win for Rea

RACE1 ; Le Nord-Irlandais s’est imposé après être passé sur pneus pluie à cinq tours de l’arrivée.

Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) a remporté sa neuvième victoire de la saison dimanche matin au Portugal lors de la première des deux courses de la journée. 

Le leader du Championnat du Monde eni FIM Superbike et son coéquipier Tom Sykes avaient commencé par un duel qui avait duré les trois premiers quarts de l’épreuve et qui a été interrompu par l’arrivée de la pluie à six tours de l’arrivée. Alors que Rea et tous les autres pilotes passaient par la pit-lane pour changer de pneus, Sykes est resté sur slicks un tour de plus mais était finalement juste derrière son coéquipier après son arrêt au stand. Le duel entre les deux pilotes Kawasaki a donc pu reprendre sur pneus pluie, jusqu’à ce que Sykes ne lâche prise et laisse Rea filer vers sa 24e victoire en WorldSBK.

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Team) a quant à lui pris la troisième place suite à un autre duel qui l’opposait à Leon Haslam (APrilia Racing Team - Red Devils), qui a chuté dès son premier tour sur pneus pluie.

Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati SBK Team), Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Honda World Superbike) et Matteo Baiocco (Althea Racing) complétaient le Top 6 devant Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia) et Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing Ducati).

Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda World Superbike Team) et Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) ont respectivement fini neuvième et dixième malgré leurs sorties de piste.

Onzième, Jordi Torres était le premier pilote Aprilia à l’arrivée et terminait juste devant Leon Haslam, reparti après sa chute. Randy de Puniet (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), David Salom (Team Pedercini) et Nico Terol (Althea Racing) se sont classés de la 13e à a 15e places.

RACE2 ; Le pilote du Kawasaki Racing Team s’est imposé haut la main dans la deuxième épreuve au Portugal.

Après s’être imposé le matin dans une course qui s'était terminée sous la pluie, Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) a été impérial sur piste sèche dimanche après-midi à l’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve et a remporté sa dixième victoire de la saison, un succès qui lui permet de compter quatre doublés en sept manches depuis le début de l’année.

Devancés par Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing-Ducati SBK Team) en début d’épreuve, le Nord-Irlandais, seulement huitième sur la grille suite à sa chute en qualifications, et son coéquipier Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) sont dans un premier temps restés dans le sillage de l’Italien, jusqu’à ce que Rea ne hausse la cadence et ne se défasse de ses deux adversaires pour finir avec cinq secondes d’avance sur Giugliano.

Ce dernier montait sur le podium pour la huitième fois de sa carrière et finissait devant Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Team - Red Devils) tandis que Sykes a terminé huitième suite à une difficile fin de course. 

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing-Ducati SBK Team) a fini quatrième, devant Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda World Superbike Team), Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Honda World Superbike Team) et Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team - Red Devils).

Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing Team) et Matteo Baiocco (Althea Racing) complétaient le Top 10 tandis que les Français Christophe Ponsson (Team Pedercini Kawasaki) et Randy de Puniet (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) ont pris les quatorzième et seizième places.

Avec une 25e victoire en WorldSBK et un sixième doublé de victoires, le quatrième cette année, Rea mène le classement général avec 330 points, et 124 d’avance sur Sykes, 131 sur Haslam et 146 sur Davies. Il devance Carl Fogarty avec la troisième plus longue série de podiums de l’histoire, avec un total de 15 contre 13 pour l’ancien Champion du Monde, et retrouvera ses adversaires le 21 juin à Misano pour la suite de la saison 2015.

First wet win for Rea as a Kawasaki rider.

After 20 action packed laps, that saw the first flag to flag race of 2015 Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) has taken his 9^thvictory of the season in the opening race of the day at Portimao, coming home 9.384s ahead of team mate Tom Sykes and Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Team) who completed the podium.

For the first 14 laps the Kawasaki pair were playing a game of cat and mouse until with 6 laps to go the rain began to fall. All but Sykes came in to change to wet tyres with Sykes following suit the following lap. The duo fought it out until Sykes made a mistake allowing Rea to notch up his 24^th career win.

Sykes finsihed 2^nd ahead of Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati SBK Team) who completed the podium after a titanic fight with Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) in the early stages.

Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati SBK Team) was 4^th with Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Honda World Superbike) and Matteo Baiocco (Althea Racing) 5^th and 6^th respectively.

Ayrton Badovini brought the BMW Motorrad Italia entry home in 7^th ahead of Leandro Mercado who experienced his first ever flag to flag race on the Barni Racing Ducati.

Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda World Superbike Team) recovered to 9^th after an off track excursion ahead of 10^th placed Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) who also ran off track before the rain fell.

Jordi Torres was the first of the factory Aprilia riders in 11^th, the WorldSBK rookie just beating team mate Leon Haslam who fell and re-joined on his first lap after changing to wet tyres.

Randy de Puniet (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), David Salom (Team Pedercini) and Nico Terol (Althea Racing) completed the point scorers.

4^th double win of the year for Rea as he extends championship lead.

The conditions for this afternoon’s second WorldSBK race at Portimao were almost perfect as the earlier rain had disappeared meaning a full 20 lap encounter on a dry circuit, won in the end by Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team), the 10^th win of 2015 for the championship leader by 5.416s.

Rea’s double win moves him into 3^rd overall in terms of most consecutive podium finishes (15), ahead of Carl Fogarty who has 13.

As in the first encounter, Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) initially led before being passed by team mate Jonathan Rea and Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati SBK Team), the trio pulling clear of the pack as their pace at the front increased.

As the race continued Rea began to stretch a lead, leaving Sykes and Giugliano to fight for 2^nd until the former champion’s ZX10R suffered what looked like a technical problem. The former champion would eventually finish 8^th.

Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) took full advantage of the situation to take 3^rd, his first podium since Aragon race 2.

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati SBK Team) finished 4^th to score more solid points ahead of the Pata Honda pairing of Michael van der Mark who got the better of reigning champion Sylvain Guintoli on the final lap who rounded out the top 6.

Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) scored 9 points with his 7^th place finish ahead of Sykes, Leandro Mercado who was in the top ten once again on his Barni Ducati (9^th) and Matteo Baiocco (Althea Racing).

11^th to 15^th positions were taken by Roman Ramos (Team GO Eleven), Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia), Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), Christophe Ponsson (Team Pedercini) and Nico Terol (Althea Racing).

The next round of the championship takes place at Misano in a fortnight.
