The Yamaha ‘Faster Wasp’ concept nods to Yamaha’s racing past

Californian custom motorcycle builder Roland Sands’ fifth collaboration with Yamaha, the Yard Built 900 ‘Faster Wasp’, embraces contemporary cutting-edge technology, while clearly nodding to Yamaha’s racing heritage…

A sting like a bee

This is the latest ‘Faster Sons’ concept from Yamaha, designed in collaboration with Roland Sands Design. An ex-racer himself, Sands took inspiration from one of his hero’s bikes, Kenny Roberts’ TZ750, with its wasp-like colour scheme. Built around Yamaha’s latest 850cc inline-three, distinctive features include, among many other things, the hand-fabricated muscular yellow bodywork, the forged aluminium wheels, and the exhaust system. It’s a big, brutal-looking machine that more than hints at its racing roots – we think ‘King’ Kenny will be thrilled.
