We’ve wanted to own Stephen Kenn’s industrial and minimalist Inheritance Collection sofa since we first saw it while visiting Deus ex Machina in Tokyo last spring. The principle behind it is as simple as it is ingenious…
Built around a visible thick steel frame, and upholstered in coarse military fabrics or vintage leather (finished with aged-looking leather straps), the Inheritance sofa is, according to Stephen Kenn, a commemoration of the human body. The Los Angeles-based designer has added longevity to his Inheritance Collection by collaborating with various other brands to make more individual furniture. The Brooklyn hipster outfitter Modern Anthology is the latest to individualise Kenn’s sofas. It’s created six variations, of which this vintage military-look example is one. Whether you’re a tireless soldier or a keen adventurer, you won’t be able to resist putting your feet up on this beautiful sofa. Prices range from 3,000-8,900 US dollars, depending on size and style.
