ERC : Breen enchaîne une deuxième victoire au Circuit of IrelandERC returnee Breen wins Circuit of Ireland again

Craig Breen, pour son retour en Championnat d’Europe FIA des Rallyes, s’est imposé au Circuit of Ireland une deuxième année consécutive.

Il s’élançait dans la dernière spéciale du rallye avec 11,3 secondes d’avance sur Kajetan Kajetanowicz et n’a finalement concédé que 0,7 secondes au Polonais. L’Irlandais s’impose donc avec un temps 10,6s plus rapide que celui de Kajetanowicz.

Le champion 2015 doit se contenter de la deuxième place ici, comme l’année dernière. Il empoche toutefois des points importants pour le championnat et passe devant le leader après le rallye des Iles Canaries, Alexey Luyanuk. Le Russe n’avait pas pu prendre le départ suite à un accident lors d’essais quelques jours avant l’épreuve.

Alastair Fisher complète le podium du rallye que son oncle Bertie a remporté trois fois.

Jaromír Tarabus a abandonné au début de l’ES14, et n’a pas pu aller au bout de son combat pour la quatrième place avec Josh Moffett.

Les problèmes de Tarabus permettent à Jonny Greer de récupérer la cinquième place devant David Bogie et Tom Cave.

Wojciech Chuchała décroche sa deuxième victoire en autant de rallyes en ERC2. Łukasz Pieniążek remporte le premier rallye de la saison en Junior ERC.

Graig Breen has won the Circuit of Ireland for the second successive year upon his return to the FIA European Rally Championship.

Carrying an 11.3-second lead over Kajetan Kajetanowicz into the final stage, Breen was only 0.7s slower than his rival from the 2015 ERC season on the final stage, a second run through Banbridge, giving the Irishman a final winning margin of 10.6s.

Kajetanowicz had to make do with second on the Circuit of Ireland for the second straight year, but takes a strong ERC points haul in the crash-enforced absence of Canary Islands winner Alexey Luyanuk.

In third, Alastair Fisher scored a podium finish on the event his uncle Bertie won three times.

Jaromír Tarabus stopped early in the final stage having been within five second of fourth-placed Josh Moffett, who claimed the honours in the British championship.

Tarabus’s problem promotes Jonny Greer to fifth ahead of David Bogie and Tom Cave.

Wojciech Chuchała scored his second win from as many rallies in ERC2, while Łukasz Pieniążek sealed victory in ERC Junior.
