Suzuki GSX250 or in Indonesia call it Suzuki Thunder 250 is a great platform for building custom bike. Oldskool engine styling, reliable single cylinder with twin port 4 valves engine and factory spoke wheels. This is exactly what we have done with our latest build, putting our skills to work on a 2001 Suzuki GSX250, and producing something far removed from your everyday bike. With a build brief calling for an “oldskool thumper”, We decided the idea has been done a lot, and needs some special touches in order to stand out. That is why a candy blue color inspired paint job on the tank for instance – which we are pretty sure this is first for us with this model with Suzuki GSX250 as a donor.
The first step was the removal all the original body to replace the original bodywork from our team handcrafted a new tank out of 1.2mm steel. Its unique shape was designed to hug the flowing lines of the stock frame perfectly. Finished in solid candy blue with silver panel on the top it’s more suited to the bike than the factory tank ever was and features a signature style Studio Motor engraved fuel cap. Original GSX250 swing arm was replaced with a custom handmade arm used seamless pipe 1.25 inch and fitted with 340 mm YSS Z-Series shock for the rear. Helping to give the bike it’s more stance, the front end is fitted with a set of 41 mm telescopic suspension, donated by a Yamaha Byson 150. For a more retro look the stock exhaust was replaced with a custom 2-into-1 stainless steel header with vintage style reverse megaphone muffler. The original rims was removed then changed with TK Japan rims 18X2.50 & 18X3.00 inch treated to a set Shinko E705 120/70-18. The stock bars replaced by fatbar handlebar. Custom made fenders and a retro headlight/tail light combo were then all that was left to complete ‘THE BLUE TRACKER’.
All up, it’s one hell of a Suzuki GSX250 build and we’re more than a little excited to see what our next build produces. Welcome THE BLUE TRACKER!
