PORSCHE DEVANT TOYOTA AU MANS APRÈS UN DERNIER TOUR DRAMATIQUE / PORSCHE DENIES TOYOTA AT LE MANS IN DRAMATIC LAST LAP WIN

• Porsche a dramatiquement gagné les 24 Heures du Mans 2016, la troisième manche du Championnat du Monde d’Endurance FIA, lors du dernier tour, après que Toyota qui a mené la course de nombreuses heures soit stoppée sur la piste suite à un problème moteur.
• Il restait seulement 3 minutes de course lorsque l’équipe japonaise a vu tristement la victoire lui échapper. Malgré les efforts de Nakajima pour effectuer tant bien que mal le dernier tour du circuit long de 13,6km, il mit 11m53s ce qui est plus que le temps maximum requis de 6 minutes, il a donc été disqualifié.
• La Porsche 919 Hybrid n°2 de Neel Jani, Romain Dumas et Marc Lieb, remporte la 18^e victoire de la marque au Mans, après avoir effectué 384 tours dans une course riche en rebondissements.
•  Il s’agit de la seconde victoire consécutive pour la marque allemande après sa victoire l’an passé avec sa LMP1 Hybride. La joie de Porsche était en réel contraste avec la tristesse de Toyota.
• A la deuxième position on retrouve la Toyota n°6 de Stéphane Sarrazin, Kamui Kobayashi et Mike Conway, 4 tours derrière les vainqueurs. Audi, de son coté à réussi à conserver son record de toujours terminer sur le podium du Mans et ce, depuis 1999. Les deux voitures ont endurés différents problèmes techniques pendant la course, la n°8 légèrement moins que la 7 mais les deux voitures étaient loin de leur performance habituelle.
• La seule LMP1 privée a avoir franchi le drapeau à damiers est la Rebellion R-ONE AER n°12 de Nick Heidfeld, Nicolas Prost et Nelson Piquet qui a terminé 29^e au classement général.

• 5^e du classement général et premier de la catégorie LMP2 pour la seconde année consécutive, Nicolas Lapierre a largement contribué à cette victoire pour l’équipe Signatech Alpine. L’Alpine A460 Nissan n°36, aux mains de Nicolas Lapierre, Gustavo Menezes et Stéphane Richelmi a effectué 357 tours et a terminé un demi-tour devant la G-Drive n°26 de Roman Rusinov, Will Stevens et René Rast. En 3^e position on retrouve la BRO1n°37 de SMP Racing pilotée par Vitaly Petrov, Victor Shaitar and Kirill Ladygin assurant les 3 premières places de la catégorie à des concurrents du Championnat du Monde d’Endurance.
• 
• Devant une foule de 263,500 spectateurs, et se terminant sous un grand soleil, pour contraster avec un départ très humide, la course la plus importante du Championnat du Monde d’Endurance FIA (WEC), restera de nouveau marquée dans les mémoires grâce à de grandes performances sur la piste.
• La prochaine manche du Championnat du Monde d’Endurance FIA (WEC) sera les 6 Heures du Nürburgring les 22 et 24 juillet prochain.

• Porsche dramatically won the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans, round three of the FIA World Endurance Championship, on the last lap after the Toyota which had lead the race for so many hours stopped on the pit straight with an engine issue.
• Just three minutes of the race remained as the heartbroken Japanese team was forced to see victory being snatched out of its hands.  Despite Nakajima limping the car around the 13.6km track for one more lap, it took 11m53s which exceeds the regulation maximum of six minutes and the car was therefore unclassified. 
• 
• The No. 2 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Neel Jani, Romain Dumas and Marc Lieb claimed the marque’s 18^th Le Mans victory, completing 384 laps.  This is the second consecutive victory for the German marque following last year’s triumph with its LMP1 hybrid machine and Porsche’s joy was in marked contrast to Toyota’s devastation.
• Eventually finishing second was the No.6 Toyota of Stephane Sarrazin, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway, four laps behind the winner, while Audi was able to maintain its record of always finishing on the podium since its debut at Le Mans in 1999.  Both cars suffered technical issues during the race, with the No.8 having slightly fewer than the No.7 but both cars some way from their usual faultless form.
• The only LMP1 Privateer to finish the race was the No.12 Rebellion Racing R-One AER of Nick Heidfeld, Nicolas Prost and Nelson Piquet Jr which finished 29^th overall.
• 

• Finishing 5^th overall and winning the LMP2 category for the second consecutive year was Nicolas Lapierre, this year contributing to a superb result for the Signatech Alpine team.  The No.36 Alpine A460 Nissan, in the hands of Lapierre, Gustavo Menezes and Stéphane Richelmi completed 357 laps and finished half a lap ahead of the No.26 G-Drive Racing ORECA 05 Nissan of Roman Rusinov, Will Stevens and René Rast.   Third in class was the No.37 SMP Racing BR01 of Vitaly Petrov, Victor Shaitar and Kirill Ladygin, thus ensuring a 1-2-3 in class for FIA WEC competitors.  
• 
• Held in front of a crowd of 263,500 spectators, and finishing in bright sunshine to contrast with the very wet start, the cornerstone event of the FIA WEC has once again left everyone with multiple memories of some great performances on track.
• The next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship is the 6 Hours of Nürburgring on 22-24 July 2016.
