With Elvis Presley at the helm and Swedish-American superstar Ann-Margret squeezed alongside, the duo take what appears to be a spirited drive through Sin City during their 1964 hit flick, ‘Viva Las Vegas’…
Presley’s character, racing driver Lucky Jackson, is hoping to compete in the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, if he can raise the finance working in a local hotel to replace his Elva’s broken engine, that is. Naturally, racing’s not the only thing on his mind, though. Winning the heart of seductive swimming teacher Rusty Martin (Ann-Margret) is perhaps even higher on his list of priorities.
The chemistry between ‘The King’ and Ann-Margret – then billed as ‘the female Elvis Presley’ – was just as real off-screen as it was on, the two indulging in a scandalous affair, much to the dismay of Elvis’s girlfriend Priscilla Beaulieu who, just three years later, would become his beloved wife. Viva Las Vegas!
