Debuts in Los Angeles
Jeep has announced plans to introduce the 2014 Wrangler Willys Wheeler Edition at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Drawing inspiration from the original CJs, the Willys Wheeler Edition is based on the Wrangler Sport and features a gloss black grille, gloss black bumper appliqués and “Willys” hood decals. The model also has a tinted Sunrider soft top and 17-inch gloss black wheels with BF Goodrich KM Mud Terrain L tires.
To ensure the model is as capable as its predecessors, it has been equipped with a Command-Trac 4x4 system and a Dana 44 rear axle with 3.73 gearing and a Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential. The model also has a Trail Rated Kit that includes a D-Ring, a tow strap and gloves.
Like the standard Wrangler, power is provided by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that develops 285 bhp (212 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. It can be connected to a six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission.
The Wrangler Willys Wheeler Edition will go on sale early next and pricing starts at $25,795 for two-door models and $29,595 for Unlimited (four-door) models.
