Mercedes has introduced the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept at the Miami International Boat Show.
Jointly-developed with Cigarette Racing, the model uses a variety of components from the SLS AMG Electric Drive. As part of the tie-in, the 38 foot (11.6 meters) long boat has an AMG Electricbeam magno exterior with an SLS-inspired interior.
Motivation is provided by two drive units which have six electric motors. Each motor produces 188 HP (138 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque which gives the model a combined output of 2251 HP (1656 kW) and 3000 Nm (2212 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the boat to hit a top speed in excess of 160 km/h (99 mph) which earns it the title as the "world's fastest electrically driven powerboat."
Power is provided by four "high-tech batteries" which store 240 kWh of energy. They can be fully recharged in approximately seven hours using the boat's on-board chargers. If that's too long, the boat can be outfitted with four on-board chargers which reduce the recharging time to less than three hours.
