With 2.5-liter 5-cylinder turbo from Audi
Donkervoort Automobielen has announced the D8 GTO has received European Small Series Type Approval.
With production expected to commence in April or May, the D8 GTO will be available "throughout Europe and beyond", including EU member states, Russia, Switzerland and the Gulf States. This announcement comes after more than one year since the car was revealed. Deliveries will begin next year and already 25 "specially designed" units have been sold.
As a reminder, the Donkervoort D8 GTO is powered by an Audi 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter turbo engine producing up to 400 HP (294 kW) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft). It enables the 1,653 lbs (750 kg) vehicle to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in three seconds, on its way to a top speed of 158 mph (255 km/h).
Donkervoort was able to keep the curb weight low thanks to a carbon/aluminum/steel tubular hybrid chassis featuring carbon fiber/fiber glass body panels. The lightweight construction will allow the D8 GTO to have a fuel consumption of 10-12 liters / 100 km (24-28 mpg UK).
