    The WEC in London town

To promote the first race of the 2015 FIA WEC at Silverstone, the championship’s organisers arranged for a display of a Ferrari, an Aston Martin and Audi, Toyota and Nissan hybrid prototypes at Marble Arch, London.
Following last weekend’s Prologue test at Le Castellet, France, the countdown to the start of the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship continued with an official presentation in the centre of London today (Thursday).
Five cars entered for the series were on public display at Marble Arch: a Ferrari 458 Italia (AF Corse), a Vantage V8 (Aston Martin Racing), an Audi R18 e-tron quattro, the 2014 championship-winning Toyota TS040 Hybrid and the new Nissan GT-R LM Nismo.
The event was attended by Briton Anthony Davidson who brought along his world title trophy, as well as Brendon Hartley (Porsche), James Calado (Ferrari), Oliver Jarvis (Audi), Mike Conway (Toyota), Jonny Kane (Strakka Racing), Danny Watts (Strakka Racing) and Aston Martin’s Stuart Hall and Darren Turner.
The programme included a press conference at the plush Royal Automobile Club offices where the RAC Tourist Trophy was presented. The latter was created in 1905 and the first name to go on the superb piece of silverware was that of John Napier (Arrol-Johnston).
Since 2013, the prestigious trophy has gone to the winners of the 6 Hours of Silverstone. Last year’s plaque was engraved with the names of Anthony Davidson, Nicolas Lapierre and Sébastien Buemi.
