Honda CB450 K1 Black Bomber by Tommy Sunu 1Today in California, the temperature is 14 degrees Celsius. It’s enough to get up early and enjoy the morning with a cup of coffee that is served by a beautiful girl. While accompany you to choose the breakfast menu on Sunday morning, I will try to give an inspiration that has flown from Jakarta, Indonesia.

It’s a “Combination of Modern and Classic Flat Track Race Bike”. The donor bike is a Honda CB 450 K1. This is a 1968 Honda comes from Tommy Sunu, one of our Indonesian readers. He is a 36 years old professional Tax Lawyer with a hobby of motorcycling.

The style of the flat tracker as a reference. Black Bomber is basically a complete engine from a Honda CB450. If you ask about parts of the frame, you’ve guessed it. It’s taking order from a Yamaha XS650. Some simple ways, is only to trim the subframe to make it look shorter. The rest, is setting up a few pieces of carbon fiber to cover some parts of the frame that has been cut.

Why not use metal materials when constructing the body? If you see at the flat track engine usually made using the metal plate, I would prefer to use carbon fiber. The reason is because the material is more lighter than metal and the process is also much faster. I want to see the Black Bomber with a more classic look, but we must still consider the beautiful touch of modern technology, a carbon fiber.

How about the tank? Tank design, is a personal design made slimmer than the original model, as well as some final touches are gold leafing, pinstripe finish, and the original emblem of the Honda CB450 in the gas tank. I think you surely already know this, carbon fiber still dominate on this section.

This is a pent-up desire, hope everyone will be quick to figure it out. On each side has pinned a pair of numbers labeled with the number “68″. This is a simple warning sign, that would like to tell you that he was born in 1968. However, they will quickly memorize a Supertrapp exhaust and the names of the Black bomber.

Furthermore, we will discuss about the suspension and tires. The front suspension is a suspension of the Honda CBR 600. The rear suspension is a double shock Ohlins after-market products. For both wheels, using Comstar wheels of a Honda CB650. For tires are Firestone ANS Military, with size: front tire using 19×400, while the rear tire using a 18×450.

Black Bomber is an encouraging step. In Kustomfest event which was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Black Bomber has been awarded as runner up in the category of “Custom Bike Show Japan Chopper & Bobber”. The last question is: What will you do next? Is there a new project? The next project is a Honda CB 77 and Yamaha XS 500. This is a great hope for me, hopefully in the next event can get the 1st place.
