This is Hakes Marine’s new HH42 grand prix racing yacht prototype. The China-based company is so pleased with its vessel, 100 are going to be built, and sold at around 385,000 euros each.
The fully carbonfibre-constructed HH42 has been designed to win races, and should offer outstanding performance both during competition and on more sedate voyages. Stand-out features include a thermoformed foam core, a single-piece keel and a unique hull shape, sheerline and deck gear layout.
Judel/vrolijk & co was entrusted with designing the yacht after being responsible for the 'Alinghi 5' - the boat that won the 2010 America’s Cup.
Construction began on the first HH42 in September 2012 and a boat has now been launched in Chinese waters. Meanwhile, production on the second yacht - destined for Europe - is well underway.
