Hyundai has renewed the partnership with Rhys Millen Racing for the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb scheduled for June 30.
They will be using last year's Genesis Coupe-based racecar in the Time Attack 2WD class, a car which managed to establish a new record by reaching the 4.3 km (14,115 foot) summit in 9:46.164.
Aside from this vehicle, Hyundai will also introduce a new purpose-built unlimited class RWD racecar. The lightweight vehicle will have the silhouette of the Genesis Coupe and use lots of powertrain components from the firm's production-based Lambda engine family. The power unit will produce more than 900 hp (671 kW) and 800 lb-ft (1,083 Nm) of torque. Some of the production parts used are the cylinder heads, block, bearings and other accessories.
