Karel Abraham's shoulder injury rules him out the MotoGP season

Ben Spies won’t be the only MotoGP rider not to complete the 2013 season, because Karel Abraham has also decided to miss the last the five rounds of the 2013 MotoGP World Championship.
The Czech rider has been struggling with shoulder and ligament damage sustained during the Indianapolis GP and he was forced to pull out of the Misano GP after just seven laps because of pain issues. The Czech rider needs surgery, which is has already been scheduled to take place in early October.
The Cardion AB team is now searching for a replacement to take over Abraham’s ART, but it won’t be a simple task, because Paul Bird’s PBM squad is also searching for someone replace Yonny Hernandez and in World Superbikes the situation is more or less the same due to injuries.
“Our aim is to find a good rider able to race already in Aragon next week,” said Karel Abraham Senior, manager of the Cardion AB team. “We would have preferred to consider Czech riders but neither the promoter [Dorna] nor the association [IRTA] recommended them for safety reasons. The priorities include a rider experienced in MotoGP or at least WSBK racing.”
