Eighty years after his father first ordered his treasured Bugatti Type 57C, Classic Driver dealer Simon Kidston undertook a personal journey to trace the car and bring it home, documented in this beautiful short film…
More than the sum of its parts...
It all started in 1987, with an inquisitive letter sent by Kidston, addressed to a Mr Bowman, the then-owner of his father’s old Bugatti Type 57C. We shan’t give too much away but the subsequent tale is heart-warming, and telling of the importance and meaning that classic cars hold for different people. “One of the things I love most about cars is how they bring people together,” says Kidston. “It’s the human connection that old cars often have – in this case my father, and all those whom I’ve subsequently met.” We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
