MotoGP Motegi: Dani Pedrosa takes over in FP2

The second free practice at the Twin Ring track at Motegi was an affair between Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo, the Repsol Honda rider posted the best lap in 1.46.088 to clear the Yamaha rider by 0.102s but Pedrosa was on soft tires while Jorge Lorenzo posted his best time on hard tires, as did Andrea Dovizioso who jumped to third with his last flying lap and was just 0.092s from his factory counterpart.
Stefan Bradl moved up to fourth place with his satellite Honda also in the final minutes of the session and both Dovizioso and Bradl demoted Valentino Rossi to fifth after the Italian took a momentary third place. The Ducati rider was six tenths adrift, but it was one of his better sessions in the dry and his best time was on a used tire.
Ben Spies also moved up the chart in the finale to take sixth just 0.066s ahead of still-not-fit Casey Stoner who did another 14 laps this afternoon, but he seems to be lamenting chattering on his RC213V. Alvaro Bautista was 0.005s behind Stoner, while Cal Crutchlow was uncharacteristically down in 9th, but from sixth to ninth the riders were separated by a mere 0.070s.
Closing out the top ten was Nicky Hayden, but the American is suffering from a radius fracture to his right wrist. Yamaha wild card rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga once again finished ahead of satellite Ducati rider Hector Barbera, while Aleix Espargaro was faster than Karel Abraham who suffered a crash as did Randy de Puniet.
