The longest running nameplate in Toyota’s history is about to get a makeover for 2014.Toyota is taking the Land Cruiser and mildly updating it with a new front end that gets “teardrop” headlights that are either LED of halogen, a wider grille and a redesigned bumper. This new frontend has increased the four-by-four’s length by 20mm (0.79 inches) but hasn’t changed the off roader’s 32 degree approach angle or its minimal turning circle.
At the rear you’ll find a new light cluster with red and clear horizontal lens and a redesign licence plate area. A wider selection of 17 and 18 inch alloys are being offered with this 2014 version and there are new body colours: Bronze Mica Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Dark Blue Mica and Dark Green Mica.
Inside there is a new panel for the on and off road controls, a revised centre console and a 4.2-inch colour TFT multi-information screen. The dashboard and trim have been given some attention too and new fabric’s been used on the second and third rows of seats. Everything’s set off with a black and ivory colour scheme that gives a premium feel. For added safety Toyota has included a sway control from trailers and an emergency brake signal.
We’re expecting the new 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser to get a public showing at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September ahead of a launch sometime during the first few months of 2014.
