At the beginning of this rally it was going to be a tough challenge for anyone wanting to beat Sebastien Loeb (Citroen-Michelin) on his home event and his chosen surface, but Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford-Michelin) gave it his best shot and got closer than he ever has to Monsieur Loeb on tarmac. .Mikko Hirvonen (Citroen-Michelin) has once again proved to be the best team-player a champion and manufacturer could have, getting his 9th podium of the season and following Loeb in the driver championship standings. Once again proving, consistency is one of the best tools you can have over the long haul. Congratulations Mikko, another great performance.
As for the young guns, Messers Neuville, Ostberg, Tanak and Novikov are going to provide some excitement in the years to come. All of them showing great maturity in thinking and strategy, weighing up the risks and getting to the finish. There are going to be some exciting battles to come.
