WSS ; Cluzel s’assure la pole en Supersport à Misano / WSS Pole in Misano is won by Cluzel as circuit records tumble

Le Français a aussi établi un nouveau record du circuit.

Jules Cluzel (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) a remporté la seizième pole position de sa carrière en World Supersport samedi après-midi au Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, où le Français a profité du nouvel asphalte pour pulvériser le record du circuit mais aussi battre de près d’une demi-seconde son rival Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing), le leader du Championnat, qui partira donc en seconde position. Après être revenu à 40 points du Turc en s'imposant devant lui au Portugal, Cluzel tentera de reprendre encore quelques points à Sofuoglu dimanche à Misano dans une course de 19 tours.

L’Américain PJ Jacobsen (Core’’ Motorsport Thaïland) rejoindra les deux stars de la catégorie en première ligne après avoir inscrit le troisième temps et est lui aussi passé sous l’ancien record du circuit.

Lorenzo Zanetti (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) mènera pour sa part la deuxième ligne devant Gino Rea (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) et Fabio Menghi, qui signait la meilleure qualification du team VFT Yamaha Racing en Supersport.

Suivront sur la grille de départ Alex Baldolini (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), Roberto Rolfo (Lorini Honda) et Christian Gamarino (Team Go Eleven).

Kyle Smith (Pata Honda World Supersport Team) a chuté mais pourra tout de même prendre le départ de la course, en onzième position.

Top 3 on the grid smash the old circuit best in qualifying.

The sole qualifying session for the World Supersport championship held a short time ago at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli was a thriller, with the outright circuit best being bettered initially by Kenan Sofuoglu and PJ Jacobsen before eventual Pole setter Jules Cluzel demolished it by almost a second. The Frenchman’s time of 1.37.482s giving him an advantage over his rivals of 0.473s.

Sofouglu and Jacobsen were 2^nd and 3^rd and will take their respective places on the record breaking front row of the grid for tomorrow’s 19 lap race.

The battle to make it onto the second row was as equally exciting with the three places available only decided in the final moments of the session. In the end 4^th position on the grid went to Lorenzo Zanetti (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), with Gino Rea (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) and Fabio Menghi 5^th and 6^th. For Menghi and the VFT Yamaha Racing squad it was their best ever qualifying position in the World Supersport championship.

Row 3 tomorrow will comprise Alex Baldolini (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), Roberto Rolfo (Lorini Honda), and Christian Gamarino (Team Go Eleven).

Kyle Smith was looking good for a front running grid slot until he crashed his Pata Honda. Unhurt, hw will start 11^th.
