    Soltador Cruiser by Hamann Motorsport

German tuner Hamann Motorsport is mostly known for its work on cars, but at the recent2013 Geneva Motor Show they did not show up with just their usual roundup of nicely equipped 4-wheelers as there was an equally exclusive custom bike among them: meet the mean and outstanding Soltador Cruiser.
The model has been created around a 113 cubic inch (about 1900 cc) S&S Evolution Style engine with machined heads and valve seats, modified camshafts and throttle body that went up from 38 to 60 mm to bring its total output up to an impressive 160 hp! This unit comes with a 6-speed gearbox from Harley-Davidson and exposed NH Power belt primary drive.
The overall aesthetics of this model are quite typical of the German school - in the same vein of some well-known names such as Kodlin and Walz, so to speak - and uses several parts that have been specifically developed for this model, most notably the frame, that captivating single-sided swingarm and the impactful, anodized Edition Race rims, measuring 4.5×18″ and 10×18″ and fitted with 130/60 and 280/35 tires respectively.

Thanks to the various interventions - which include the addition of a Thundermaxx EFI ECU, a in-house made exhaust and a new air-intake system - and in spite of a dry weight of about 300 kg, the Soltador Cruiser can boast a pretty impressive performance, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.3 seconds.
Other goodies include the AirRide suspension system, RS fork with integrated handlebar, the wide wave disc at the rear, instrumentation by Motogadget, Hamann Race platforms, LED headlight and the various cosmetic inserts and mechanical bits finished in classy gold, in addition to auctions of the motor and the brake calipers plated in the same material. The paint job, somewhat reminiscent of some Porsche model of the past, has been performed by Austrian artist Marcus Pfeil. The Soltador will be produced in a limited number of units, each one coming with an equally threatening € 120,000 price tag.

Michael Dunlop joins the Honda TT Legends

Honda TT Legends new signing Michael Dunlop joined his new team at a pre-season test in Albacete, where he rode his CBR1000RR road racing machine for the first time. The young rider will compete for the TT Legends at the Isle of Man TT and the Northwest 200 in the superbike classes.

A useful but shortened pre-Bol d’Or test / Bol d’Or : des essais réduits mais prometteurs

The majority of the teams entered for the 2013 Bol d’Or were at Magny-Cours, France, on Wednesday and Thursday for two days of testing. Unfortunately, their work was upset once again by fickle weather.
All the Bol d’Or favourites (SERT, YART, Kawasaki SRC, Honda TT Legends and BMW Motorrad France Team Thevent) had planned busy programmes but they were unable to work through them because of poor weather.
Track time on the first day was shortened by showers which made the track too slippery for slicks but ill-suited to rain tyres. Drier, if cooler conditions on the Thursday allowed the teams to get in some more constructive work, however.
Michelin’s partner teams YART, GMT 94 and BMW Motorrad France Team Thevent focused essentially on set-up work and evaluating the French brand’s new slicks which proved effective in the conditions.

Four riders took turns on the N°99 BMW, including Patrick Muff and Olivier Four who used the second day to acquaint themselves with Michelin rubber. Sylvain Barrier escaped unhurt from a bad fall but the bike sustained significant damage which forced all four riders to share the same machine. Sébastien Gimbert said he was pleased with the team’s work, even though there is still scope to make the bike even more comfortable.
Matthieu Lagrive, Kenny Foray, David Checa and Maxime Berger worked on the race set-up of the N°94 Yamaha R1, and team boss Christophe Guyot was happy with its lap times. “The guys simulated complete stints. They are all in great shape and we were about a second a lap faster than last year.”

Only Igor Jerman and Broc Parkes attended the session for YART, since Josh Waters had British Superbike testing commitments.
The 2012 Bol d’Or winning team Kawasaki SRC was upbeat after the two days which produced some highly encouraging times, and Loris Baz and Jérémy Guarnoni both seem to have found their marks with their new squad.
SERT, the defending Endurance World Championship champion, was present with its new line-up which features Vincent Philippe, Julien Da Costa, Anthony Delhalle and Alex Cudlin.
The 77th Bol d’Or has the makings of being an extremely close race and the form of the factory teams promises a thrilling 24 hours.
