Marc Marquez more popular than Dani Pedrosa
Has anyone noticed how many videos Repsol is releasing this season? The above is just another to promote their two MotoGP riders and the team.
The company is capitalizing on the fact that Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez are highly popular in Spain, with Marquez’ quotations in the media growing after each race weekend.
Personality Media, is a Spanish company who measures and evaluates the popularity of celebrities, athletes. ect in fourteen different categories to help marketing and advertising companies choose the right star to peddle their products.
And in their latest Q Scores (and this was before the Jerez GP) the MotoGP rookie already rates higher overall than his team mate Pedrosa has always led the most of the categories relative to MotoGP riders, however Marquez’ visibility has fastly grown, from a 20% in 2011 to early 2012, and he is now at 35% in these first months of 2013 season.
Pedrosa continues to be the best known rider rating 91%, followed by Jorge Lorenzo at 87%, while outsider Valentino Rossi comes in at 85%. which continues to testify his popularity is not on the wane. Strangely enough Lorenzo who won last year’s championship contines to trail Marquez, Pedrosa and Rossi in all the categories, and according to the media company they believe that it is due to the fact that reigning world champion isn’t perceived as ‘passionate’ and some seem to have trouble forgetting that chip-on-the-shoulder attitude that he had when he was much younger.
Mercedes-Benz bringing 1955 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe and SLS AMG GT to Goodwood
July 11-14
Mercedes-Benz will showcase at this year's Goodwood
Festival of Speed the superb 1955 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe and the 2013
SLS AMG GT.
Although built 58 years apart, the two cars share a few similarities since both are front-engined with a rear-wheel drive layout and feature gullwing doors. In addition, the two cars make extensive use of aluminum and have a hand-built, 8-cylinder engine.
Only two coupes of the 300 SLR were ever made, with both of them having a straight-eight, 3.0-liter engine producing 310 HP (228 kW). It had a curb weight of only 1,117 kg (2,462 lbs) which made it the quickest closed-roof car of that time, being capable of reaching a top speed of 178 mph (286 km/h).
The 2013 SLS AMG GT is powered by a V8 6.3-liter engine with 591 HP (435 kW) linked to a SPEEDSHIFT DCT-7 transmission updated by AMG. It needs 3.7 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) and 11.2 seconds until 124 mph (200 km/h), on its way to an electronically-limited top speed of 198 mph (319 km/h).

'Eleanor' from 'Gone in 60 Seconds' up for auction
May 14-19
The 1967 Ford Mustang GT500 "Eleanor" from "Gone in 60 Seconds" will be auctioned in May at the Dana Mecum 26th Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis.
For the 2000's blockbuster hit movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" eleven cars were made but only three of them were actually working cars, while another two were completely destroyed during filming. As you would imagine, none of them were original Shelbys as the replicas were based on custom Ford Mustang fastbacks.
These cars were manufactured by Cinema Vehicle Services in collaboration with well-known coachbuilder Chip Foose. The cars feature bespoke hood and trunk, centrally-mounted driving lights, wider fender flares and a V8 5.7-liter crate engine producing 400 bhp (298 kW).
Bundled with the car is a certificate of authenticity and a special plaque which has Eleanor's VIN. This particular car is offered by a private owner and chances are it will be sold for more than 100,000 USD.
