Supermoto Colombie : doublé de Kejmar en Colombie / Kejmar in charge in Colombia

Pavel Kejmar (Husqvarna) a signé ses deux premières victoires de la saison en s’imposant à Chachagui en Colombie lors de l’avant-dernière épreuve du Championnat du monde FIM SuperMoto.

Ivan Lazzarini (L30 Racing – Honda) a pris un très bon départ lors de la première course et a mené les cinq premiers tours.

Auteur de la pole position, Thomas Chareyre (TM – Michelin) n’a pas réussi à conserver l’avantage et a d’abord rétrogradé à la deuxième place au premier tour puis à la troisième position dès la deuxième boucle. Il n’est pas parvenu à revenir sur les deux pilotes de tête et a dû se contenter de la troisième place sous le drapeau à damier.

Pavel Kejmar a pris les commandes au sixième tour pour ne plus les quitter jusqu’à l’arrivée. Il devance de plus d’une seconde Lazzarini.

Le national de l’étape, Valerio Piedrahita Ocampo (Suzuki) a créé la surprise en terminant quatrième devant de nombreux fans. Christian Ravaglia (Assomotor – Honda- Michelin) est remonté à la cinquième place suite à une chute à la 8^ème position.

La seconde course a été nettement moins animée. Pavel Kejmar a pris la tête dès le départ et l’a conservé jusqu’à l’arrivée. Derrière les positions n’ont pas évolué.

Thomas Chareyre a maintenu la deuxième place devant Ivan Lazzarini alors que Christian Ravaglia a terminé quatrième devant un Colombien, David Burbano.

Thomas Chareyre conserve la tête du classement provisoire mais ne compte que 13 points d’avance sur Ivan Lazzarni. Grâce son doublé, Pavel Kejmar se hisse à la troisième place avec respectivement 42 et 29 points de retard sur Chareyre et Lazzarini.

Race 1 saw Ivan Lazzarini (L30 Racing-Honda) get away well to lead for the first five laps. Pole-sitter Thomas Chareyre (TM-Michelin) was slower off the line and was down ton third by the end of Lap 2. He managed to catch the leading pair again but had to settle for the last step of the podium at the flag.

Kejmar emerged in front on Lap 6 and held on to beat Lazzarini by more than a second.

Local star Valerio Piedrahita Ocampo (Suzuki) caused a surprise by coming fourth in front of home fans. Christian Ravaglia (Assomotor-Honda-Michelin) recovered from a fall to end up fifth.

The second race was less dramatic. Kejmar took a flag-to-flag victory and there were no changes further down the order, either.

Second-placed Chareyre kept Lazzarini at a respectable distance, while Ravaglia was fourth this time, pursued by Colombia’s David Burbano.

Thomas Chareyre continues to top the championship standings but is now only 13 points clear of Lazzarini. Kejmar’s double-whammy has promoted him to third, 42 points off the leader.

WRC; Les brèves de Finlande

Au menu des brèves finlandaises, un triplé Michelin qui devient doublé en WRC-2, de spectaculaires sorties de route, des vitesses moyennes incroyables, des classements très serrés, un 50e rallye mondial vite écourté…

Le beau triplé Michelin en WRC-2 n’a pas tenu longtemps. Stéphane Lefebvre a été exclu de sa 3^e place pour calculateur électronique non conforme sur sa DS3 RRC. Celui-ci avait été remplacé après la Sardaigne. Yuri Protasov monte donc sur le podium.

La victoire s’est jouée pour 5/10^e de seconde en Juniors en faveur de Quentin Gilbert. Victime d’une crevaison, le Finlandais Henri Haapämaki est remonté au classement pour échouer à moins d’une seconde !

En Fiesta Trophy, Marius Aasen, Tom Cave et Max Vatanen ont terminé la spéciale d’Ouninpohja (34,39 km) groupés en 2 seconde ! Toujours en Trophy, c’est la 3^e sortie de route consécutive pour l’Américain William Hudson.

Alors qu’il était encore parti pour réaliser un beau rallye, le Néo-Zélandais Hayden Paddon serait sorti de la route après la rupture d’une biellette de direction. Sa Hyundai i20 WRC était neuve. Michel Nandan, directeur de Hyundai Motorsport, nous a laissé comprendre qu’Hayden aurait re-signé avec Hyundai pour 2016. Neuville et Sordo ont encore un an de contrat.

Son copilote John Kennard célébrait son 50^e rallye WRC. Il a commencé sa carrière ici au Rallye des 1000 Lacs, en 1985, sur une Toyota Starlet. Son pilote, Brent Rawstron, s’était de retrouvé sans copilote juste avant le départ. John traînait par là et accepté de relever le défi. C’était son baptême du feu !

« En sept ans, c’est la première fois que Paul commet une erreur », a déclaré Kris Meeke après le pointage une minute en retard de Paul Nagle au départ de l’ES9. « A 2 secondes près, on pointait à l’heure ». Cette pénalité de 10 secondes a doublé le retard de Meeke sur les deux VW de tête.

Malgré la météo capricieuse, 8500 billets de concert ont été vendus pour la 1ère édition du Rally Zone Festival. Les organisateurs espèrent bien rééditer l’expérience l’année prochaine.

Juho Hänninen n’avait plus roulé en WRC depuis le Wales Rally GB 2014 et termine à lune probante 6^e place sur une Ford Fiesta RS WRC ancienne version. Il n’a pas fait un mètre avec la voiture avant le Shakedown. Quand il n’est pas au volant d’une WRC, Juho s’occupe de sa ferme à l’Est de la Finlande, près de la frontière russe.

Hannu Mikkola (73 ans), Champion du monde des Rallyes 1983 et triple vainqueur du Rallye de Finlande, est allé voir passer les voitures dans la spéciale de Päijälä (ES3/7) où il possède une maison de campagne.

La spéciale la plus rapide du Rallye de Finlande 2015 (Myhinpää, ES20, Power Stage) a été remportée par Sébastien Ogier à 135,3 km/h de moyenne. Lappi a roulé à 128,8 km/h sur sa Skoda Fabia R5, Haapämaki à 121,4 km/h sur sa DS3 R3 et Max Vatanen à 116,8 km/h sur sa Fiesta R2. Bouclée en12min42s8, la 3^e étape du Rallye de Finlande est sans doute l’une des plus courtes de l’histoire !

La boucle du samedi après-midi fut cruelle pour les trois Ford Fiesta R5 DMack : Eyvind Brynildsen, Sander Pärn et Jarkko Nikara ont tour à tour été éliminés sur sorties de route et double crevaison.

Nasser Al-Attiyah passe de la Ford Fiesta RRC à la Skoda Fabia R5 à partir du Rallye d’Allemagne.

Our WRC notes from Finland look at Michelin’s one-two-three finish in WRC2 which ultimately became a one-two, some spectacular crashes, incredible average speeds, microscopic gaps and curtailed 50th appearance celebrations…

The all-Michelin podium in WRC-2 didn’t stand for long since Stéphane Lefebvre (DS3 RRC) was excluded from third place for a non-conform electronic control unit. It had been replaced after Sardinia. Yuri Protasov inherited third place.

The winning margin in the Junior fight was just half-a-second, in favour of Quentin Gilbert. Finn Henri Haapämaki bounced back from an early puncture to finish less than a second short of the Frenchman!

In the Fiesta Trophy, Marius Aasen, Tom Cave and Max Vatanen were covered by less than two seconds on Ouninpohja (34.39km). Less fortunate, the American driver William Hudson crashed out for the third event in a row.

It appears that Hayden Paddon’s accident on SS6 was due to a steering rod failure. The Kiwi’s Hyundai i20 WRC was new. Hyundai Motorsport Director Michel Nandan has hinted that Hayden has signed with the team for 2016. The contracts of Neuville and Sordo also cover next season.

Finland was the 50^th WRC outing of Hayden’s co-driver John Kennard who began his world class career on the 1000 Lakes Rally in a Toyota Starlet in 1985. His driver of the day Brent Rawstron found himself without a navigator just before the start and John, who happened to be around, accepted the challenge.

“It was Paul’s first mistake in seven years,” declared Kris Meeke after his co-driver checked in late at the start of SS9. “He only went two seconds over our due time.” The ensuing 10-second penalty doubled the Ulsterman’s deficit to the leading VW duo.

Despite the unsettled weather, some 8,500 concert tickets were sold for the inaugural Rally Zone Festival.

Juho Hänninen hadn’t competed at WRC level since last year’s Wales Rally GB, yet he came a commendable sixth in a former-spec Ford Fiesta RS WRC. His first run in the car was shakedown! The Finn spends much of his time nowadays working his farm near the Russian border.

The 1983 world champion and three-time Rally Finland winner Hannu Mikkola, 73, was a celebrity spectator on SS3/7 (Päijälä) where he has a holiday home.

The week’s fastest stage (SS20, Myhinpää/Power Stage) was won by Sébastien Ogier at an average of 135.3kph. Lappi (Skoda Fabia R5) reached 128.8kph, Haapämaki (DS3 R3) was clocked at 121.4kph and Max Vatanen (Fiesta R2) averaged 116.8kph. The third day was wrapped up in just 12m42.8s, making it one of the shortest ever in time terms.

Nasser Al-Attiyah is to switch from a Ford Fiesta RRC to a Skoda Fabia R5 from Rally Deutschland onwards.
