The ACM (Automobile Club de Monaco) has published the entry list for the 2014 Rallye Monte-Carlo (January 14-19). It features three VW Polo R WRCs, two Hyundai i20 WRCs, two Citroën DS3 WRCs and seven Ford Fiesta RS WRCs, including an M-Sport car for Bryan Bouffier.
With number one on the sides of his VW Polo, Sébastien Ogier will have the honour of kicking off the 2014 season which begins with January’s Rallye Monte-Carlo. The event features two legs near his home in Gap, France. The car of team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala will carry number 2, while Andreas Mikkelsen retains number 9.
The DS3 WRCs of Citroën’s Kris Meeke (N°3) and Mads Ostberg (N°4) will start just ahead of the Ford Fiestas of Mikko Hirvonen (N°5) and Elfyn Evans (N°6). Like the VW Polos in 2013, the new Hyundai i20 WRCs will carry numbers 7 (Neuville) and 8 (Sordo).
Robert Kubica has entered the 2014 Teams’ championship under the name of RK M-Sport WRT (N°10 Ford Fiesta), but the name of his co-driver for the season has yet to be announced. JipoCar Czech National Team continues in the world championship with a Fiesta RS WRC for Martin Prokop.
M-Sport has also entered a Ford Fiesta RS WRC for Frenchman Bryan Bouffier, winner of 2011 Monte and fifth overall last January. There are Fiesta RS WRCs, too, for another former Monte winner, François Delecour, and for Slovakia’s Jaroslav Melicharek who took part in the 2012 event driving a Peugeot 207 S2000.
The WRC-2 entry boasts six cars, including Ford Fiesta R5s for Yurii Protasov, Armin Kremer, Greek veteran Serderidis and Italy’s Bertelli, while this year’s French champion Julien Maurin will have a Fiesta RRC.
Although Quentin Gilbert (Citroën DS3 R3) is the event’s only WRC-3 entrant, he will be joined in the class by its new champion, Sébastien Chardonnet (DS3 R3). Meanwhile, the Belgian legend Marc Duez returns to the Rallye Monte-Carlo in a Porsche (GT class), 15 years after his last attempt at the winter classic!
The start ceremony will take place in Monaco (Place du Casino) on Tuesday, January 14, followed by the first stage on Thursday, January 16.

C’est avec le dossard n°1 que Sébastien Ogier s’élancera à l’assaut de la saison 2014 qui débutera par le Rallye Monte-Carlo, dont deux étapes se situent dans sa région natale de Gap. Son équipier Jari-Matti Latvala portera quant à lui le n°2 et Andreas Mikkelsen conserve son n°9.
Plus de n°1 chez Citroën, donc. Loeb ne l’avait porté que sur quatre courses en 2013. Les DS3 WRC de Kris Meeke et de Mads Ostberg porteront les dossards n°3 et n°4 et s’élanceront juste devant les Ford Fiesta de Mikko Hirvonen (n°5) et d’Elfyn Evans (n°6). Comme les VW Polo l’an passé, les nouvelles Hyundai i20 WRC débuteront en Mondial avec les n°7 (Neuville) et n°8 (Sordo).

Il avait participé à l’édition 2012 sur une Peugeot 207 S2000.

Quentin Gilbert est l’unique engagé en championnat WRC-3 sur sa Citroën DS3 R3, mais le champion sortant Sébastien Chardonnet sera lui aussi au départ de ce « Monte-Carlo » sur une DS3 R3 (hors championnat). A noter le retour du Belge Marc Duez au Rallye Monte-Carlo sur une Porsche en catégorie GT. Son dernier « Monte-Carlo » remonte à 1999 !
La cérémonie de départ se déroulera Place du Casino à Monaco mardi 14 janvier. La première spéciale est prévue jeudi 16. A signaler l’annulation de la spéciale du « Corobin » pour cause d’éboulis. Elle est remplacée par Clumanc-Lambruisse (20,77 km) en nocturne.
