Moto GP : Lorenzo à Abu Dhabi pour une course d’endurance en Ferrari / Lorenzo to participate in endurance event in Abu Dhabi

Jorge Lorenzo participe ce week-end à une course d’endurance de 12 heures qu’il disputera au volant d’une Ferrari 458 GT3 Challenge Evo, sur le circuit de Yas Marina.

Jorge Lorenzo courra avec Kessel Racing dans un team sponsorisé par Monster Energy et dans lequel il fera équipe avec Liam Talbot (Australie), Jacques Duvyers (Grande-Bretagne) et Marco Zanuttini. Le Majorquin sera engagé dans la catégorie ‘Ferrari Challenge’, qui sera représentée par un total de 5 voitures sur une grille de 32.

Lorenzo est arrivé à Abu Dhabi jeudi et va pouvoir découvrir la Ferrari 458 ainsi que ses nouveaux coéquipiers avant l'épreuve qui aura lieu samedi et qui sera composée de deux manches de 6 heures, disputées de jour puis de nuit, avec trois heures de pause entre les deux. 

« J'adore participer à ce genre d'évènements pendant l'hiver et pouvoir le faire avec des sponsors qui m'ont soutenu toute l'année, comme Monster, » a commenté Lorenzo. « C'est une façon de se détendre tout en restant dans un cadre de compétition. Pouvoir piloter une Ferrari sur un circuit aussi spécial est quelque chose d'unique. C'est une course d'endurance et ça me motive encore plus. » 

This weekend Jorge Lorenzo will participate in a 12-hour endurance race being held at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi at the wheel of a Ferrari 458 GT3 Challenge Evo.

The Majorcan rider will be part of the Kessel Racing team sponsored by Monster Energy and will have Liam Talbot (Australia), Jacques Duvyers (UK) and Marco Zanuttini (Italy) as teammates.

Lorenzo arrived in Abu Dhabi on Thursday and will get his first contact with the Ferrari 458 as he meets with his teammates. The event will be held on Saturday in two rounds - six hours during the day and another six hours at night, with a break of three hours in between.

“I love doing this kind of thing during the winter and to be able do these events with sponsors who have supported me throughout the year, like Monster,” said the Spaniard, who has been recently in Indonesia.

“It’s a way to relax whilst also having a taste of competition. To be able to drive a Ferrari at such a special circuit is something quite unique. Also, doing so in an endurance event really motivates me.”
