Les réactions de Yamaha et Honda face au rythme de Ducati / Yamaha and Honda react to Ducati pace in Qatar

Massimo Meregalli et Livio Suppo discutent de la compétitivité de la Ducati GP15 avant l’ouverture du Championnat du Monde MotoGP™ 2015.

Suite à la démonstration de Ducati au Qatar à l’occasion du dernier test de la pré-saison, Massimo Meregalli, le directeur du team Movistar Yamaha MotoGP, a reconnu que la nouvelle Desmosedici GP15 serait aux avant-postes au début de la saison : « Ils ont impressionné tout le monde parce qu’ils ont été rapides mais qu’ils ont aussi été très réguliers. Je trouve qu’ils ont vraiment bien travaillé. »

Premier pilote Yamaha, Jorge Lorenzo était à une demi-seconde du temps de référence d’Andrea Dovizioso à l’issue de la dernière journée d’essais à Losail et Meregalli pense que le retour en force de la marque italienne pourrait produire une excellente saison 2015 : « Hier, il y avait dix pilotes en moins d’une seconde et je pense qu’en termes de spectacle, nous pourrions avoir un beau championnat cette année. »

Livio Suppo, le directeur du team Repsol Honda, annonce pour sa part que « la GP15 semble très bien fonctionner. » L’Italien a affirmé se réjouir de voir Ducati revenir aux avant-postes et qu’il ne s’agissait pas que du seul constructeur capable de contester la domination de Yamaha et Honda : « Suzuki ne s’en sort pas mal non plus et les règles qui permettent aux teams qui sont un peu derrière d’avoir un avantage semblent bien marcher. »

Au Qatar, Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) a été l’unique pilote à pouvoir se hisser au niveau des Ducati et a fini le test en seconde position, à 0.184s de Dovizioso. Suppo pense aussi qu’avoir plus de teams au plus haut niveau sera « bon pour le sport, »  bien qu’il soit « encore trop top pour dire » si Ducati sera l’un des candidats au titre.

After the Ducati Team dominated the final preseason test in Qatar, Movistar Yamaha Team Director Massimo Meregalli believes that the new Desmosedici will be at the forefront come the start of the season: “They impressed everybody because they have been fast, but also very consistent, for me they have done a really good job.”

With Jorge Lorenzo on the leading Yamaha finishing over half a second behind Dovizioso’s Ducati in the overall standings after the final preseason test, Meregalli believes that the resurgence of the Italian Manufacturer could lead to an exciting 2015 season: “Yesterday they were 10 riders separated by less than one second, for me in terms of a spectacle, we could see a nice championship this year.”

Livio Suppo, Repsol Honda Team Principal, thinks that, “The GP15 seems to work really well.” He went on to say that he thinks it is good for the championship to have Ducati back battling at the front, and believes that they wont be the only manufacturer to challenge the recent domination of Yamaha and Honda. The Italian said: “Suzuki are not doing too bad as well, so the rules that allow the teams that were a little bit behind to have an advantage seem to be working well.”

Marc Marquez on the factory Honda was the only rider to really offer any challenge to the Factory Ducati team, as he finished the test just 0.184s off the pace in 2nd place. Suppo finished by saying that having these teams competing at the sharp end again was, “Good for the sport,” although he feels it is “too early to say yet,” if Ducati can mount a serious title challenge.
