Thiriet by TDS Racing (Badey/Gommendy/Thiriet) a offert la première victoire à l’Oreca05-Nissan LM P2 à l’occasion des 4 Heures d’Imola, deuxième manche des European Le Mans Series 2015. L’Oreca03-Nissan Murphy Prototypes (Patterson/Lyons/Berthon) et la Gibson-Nissan Jota Sport (Dolan/Tincknell/Albuquerque) complètent le podium.
Après son succès en LM P2 aux 6 Heures de Spa, Jota Sport avait signé la pole position sur le circuit Enzo e Dino Ferrari grâce à Filipe Albuquerque.
La Gibson-Nissan N°38 s’est donc élancée en tête, sous le soleil d’Emilie-Romagne, après deux tours de formation (Oreca-Nissan N°44 en panne sur la piste), aux côtés de l’Oreca03-Nissan N°48 Murphy Prototypes.
Mais c’est l’Oreca05-Nissan N°46 Thiriet by TDS Racing qui a pris un départ canon depuis la 5e ligne. Après 20 minutes de course, elle était remontée à la 2e place derrière la Gibson-Nissan N°38 qui a observé son premier pit-stop après 27 tours.
La N°38 menait la course quand elle a dû repasser une 3e fois à son stand pour fixer un élément de carrosserie. Cet arrêt supplémentaire a sans doute privé Jota Sport d’un second succès d’affilée à Imola.
A mi-course, l’Oreca05-Nissan N°46 (meilleur tour en 1min36s650) était leader avec 23 secondes d’avance sur la N°48, 24s sur la N°41 et 25s sur la N°38 !
Tristan Gommendy a résisté à son compatriote Nathanaël Berthon (Oreca03-Nissan N°48 Murphy Prototypes) jusqu’au drapeau à damier pour offrir unepremière victoire ELMS à Thiriet by TDS Racing depuis plus d’un an (Silverstone 2014).
Les teams Britanniques Jota Sport et Greaves Motorsport (Gibson-Nissan N°41) ont pris les 3e et 4eplaces, devant la Ligier JS P2/Michelin N°40 Krohn Racing, à la lutte avec la Morgan-Nissan N°29 Pegasus Racing jusqu’à un hors-piste de celle-ci à 40 minutes de l’arrivée.
Pour leur première sortie officielle, les nouvelles BR01-Nissan SMP Racing manquaient de performance. La N°37 a pris la 8e place, et la N°27 a connu une fuite d’essence.
En LM GTE, les trois premiers ont terminé en moins de 13 secondes, et sur les terres de Ferrari, Porsche a failli créer la surprise. La Ferrari 458 AT Racing (Talkanitsa/Talka/Pier Guidi) s’est finalement imposée avec 3 secondes d’avance sur la Porsche 911 RSR Proton Competition et la 12s7 sur la Ferrari Formula Racing. En GTC, AF Corse a signé un triplé avec ses Ferrari N°62, N°63 et N°64.
Les prototypes LM P3 ont rencontré de nombreux soucis. La victoire est finalement revenue à la N°7 University of Bolton (Garofall/Dons) devant la N°15 SVK by Speed Factory. Ces deux prototypes se sont classés aux 20 et 21e rangs, loin derrière les premières GT.
Thiriet by TDS Racing (Badey/Gommendy/Thiriet) earned the first victory for the Oreca05-Nissan LM P2 prototype at today’s 4 Hours of Imola, round two of the 2015 European Le Mans Series (ELMS). The Murphy Prototypes Oreca03-Nissan (Patterson/Lyons/Berthon) and Jota Sport’s Gibson-Nissan (Dolan/Tincknell/Albuquerque) joined it on the podium.
After the team’s LM P2 victory at Spa (WEC), Filipe Albuquerque qualified the N°38 Gibson-Nissan on pole position at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari, and the Jota Sportcar consequently led the field away at the sunny start, alongside the N°48 Oreca03-Nissan (Murphy Prototypes). The N°44 Oreca-Nissan was side-lined during the formation laps.
The N°46 Oreca05-Nissan (Thiriet by TDS Racing) got away to an excellent start from row five and, after 20 minutes, was up to second overall behind the N°38 Gibson-Nissan which made its first pit stop after 27 laps.
The latter was still leading when it had to make an unscheduled halt for bodywork repairs, a halt which no doubt cost it a second consecutive victory at Imola.
At the midpoint, the N°46 Oreca05-Nissan led (fastest lap: 1m36.650s), chased by the N°48, N°41 and N°38 cars which were covered by just two seconds!
Tristan Gommendy managed to ward off the pressure of compatriot Nathanaël Berthon (N°48) to collect Thiriet by TDS Racing’s first ELMS victory since Silverstone in April 2014.
British teams Jota Sport and Greaves Motorsport (N°41 Gibson-Nissan) were third and fourth, ahead of Krohn Racing’s N°40 Ligier JS P2/Michelin which battled hard with the N°29 Morgan-Nissan until the Pegasus Racing car left the track with 40 minutes remaining.
SMP Racing’s new BR01-Nissans appeared to be down on performance for their debut. The N°37 prototype was eighth and the N°27 car suffered a fuel leak.
The top three LM GTE finishers were covered by less than 13 seconds. Porsche nearly caused a surprise on Ferrari’s home turf, but the AT Racing Ferrari 458 (Talkanitsa/Talka/Pier Guidi) eventually won by three seconds over Proton Competition’s Porsche 911 RSRand by 12.7s over Formula Racing’s Ferrari.
AF Corse claimed a one-two-three finish in GTC with the N°62, N°63 et N°64 Ferraris.
The new LM P3 prototypes were plagued by a number of problems and victory ended up in the hands of the University of Bolton car (N°7, Garofall/Dons), ahead of the N°15 (SVK by Speed Factory). These two cars were 20th and 21st overall, a long way behind the fastest GTrunners.
